I've seen in a few articles, that for S/S 06, the new trend is to use clutch bags for day. Yes, it is seemingly impractical but also sounds quite glamourous a la Gabrielle of Desperate Housewives. Anyone else heard (or seen) of this trend?

I'm thinking of getting a new clutch bag, and am considering getting one that works for both day and night.

i think it looks great and very glamourous and seems to make women slightly happier and surely that's why we all love fashion, right? the perfect time to pick up on this trend too.

I think it would look fab apart from id be scaed as im notvery good with clutch bags .. have a tendancy to leave them places or loose them.
Although I think if you can fit yur day to day necessities into a clutch bag go for it :flower:

Oh I didn't know that was a trend, I have been doing that for quite sometime now - carrying a clutch during the day.
I'm more of a big-bag person, but sometimes the outfit and the occassion calls for something a little more subdued.

As long as you can fit all your stuff in and it suits the outfit, go ahead and do it, I think it's fun!

completely impractical...:P

i have, however, been known to tuck my shoulder bag under my arm as a clutch..
and i admit...it DOES feel fabulously glamorous...
little trick i learned from my mum...
tres chic...

It's true. Shoulder bags cause depression. STOP SHOULDER BAGS NOW!

:shifty:

I do agree that they are much chicer than shoulder bags.... the bigger the better.....

I love this trend! ^_^ I have a gorgeous big black vintage Charles Jourdan clutch from the 80s. I love it because the leathers not too new I like it a bit worn in.

They sure do look chic, but with all the stuff I need to have with me every time I go out, this is not going to happen.

i thought big bags are the central thing for the ss06 season, where do clutches fit in here?

can you please come up with actual ss06 catwalk or streetstyle pics to document this trend? please?

I think if a place like Topshop is full of them, it's a quite sure bet to think it's a trend. :P:flower:

^ is TopShop full of them then puccimama? i had no idea..

please tell me more.. colours, shapes, materials?

Patent leathers, like yellow, red, green, blue.

I've also seen this this really pretty clutch, in nude 'croc', I think they also had white. :flower:

Edit: They also have some chain clutch bags, as chains are everywhere now.

They have some on their website, but it's not really a good selection.

thanks for the 'update' puccimama, chains, crocks and 'capitone' are real huge...

so do you think clutches are from a trend point of view 'hotter' than oversized this season (ss06)??
i'd really want to know, regardless that i'm a strictly cross shoulder bag person myself

I say nay to using clutches for daytime...as soft said, totally impractical. I've always been a big bag person myself... trend or no trend. Though I'm quite tempted to get one of those vintage Gucci/Dior document clutches and use it for work.

missing credits

athough they may be quite hot, from a trend point of view, they're no bigger than the cross shoulder bag trend.... actually, i can't even remember seeing clutches on the runway for daywear (much more small black clutches for eveningwear that I saw)....

^ exactly what i thought kimkhuu, its certainly not a catwalk trend, but maybe a streetwear thing?

i couldnt dream of holding things under my arm during day while running around the city, sounds like torture to me
