For me it's got to be anything by John Varvatos. I could honestly live in nothing but his clothes and accessories from season to season and be perfectly content. I love the downbeat luxury and cool ease of his sensibility, and I also love that at the end of the day it's just great clothing that doesn't attempt to be anything but.

it's funny that i love it so much since it's not my style at ALL, but everytime i see anything from rag and bone (working in their building doesn't help) it just seems so dead on with the sort of slouchy undone-preppy-but-rock-and-roll lazily-tailored-androgyny kind of style that comes to mind for this... i wish i could wake up every morning and throw clothes on and look this effortless and comfrotable:

i guess any brand that is know for using great fabrics, subtle colours, soft cashmere, loose silhouettes... (just writing about it makes me wanna seat around the house all day all covered up and cozy )

in the womenswear arena, i do believe there exist a couple of women who get how women want to dress in an absolutely effortless and easy way. for me, stella mccartney and donna karan represent this "comfort food" fashion better than any other for women in their different age categories.

also, in this vein, michael kors and costello tagliapietra fit the bill. in the menswear arena, band of outsiders and michael kors have struck a good balance at creating edgier classics and more traditional statement pieces making their entire collections somewhat more palatable....comfort food at its best.
