Comme Des Garçons

athough the prices above at a store named plaguesearch are not especially good, I put them there because it may be a bit interesting to get to see them again when we happen to get back to this page in the future.

I saw the +noir coat (black though) worn at YY. my first impression was its looking like a dress in a way.
sorry for this weird vision in my brains. but the person in it looked in some way as if she had been wearing a dress with a front closure, a dress in the form of a coat. so it didn't look heavy and out of place, fully buttoned, indoors. even if her wearing it with the sleeves flipped and showing a bit of the tan lining might have done a little magic.

i know exactly what you mean...
it had that same effect on me...
like a bell-shaped dress...
that particular coat is very fitted...at least it was on me...
also- it seemed that it really looked best when worn closed because of this effect...
the lining and the waist detail made it feel less 'precious' to me, as well...
and therefore seemed like it could be good for casual style as well as over a ballgown...
just perfect with everything-- every single thing....

*really like some vintage european military coat---which all seem to be very sharply tailored---except that this was shrunken down to the exact right proportions for a woman, rather than big and oversized like a man's vintage military coat...
that coat was quite exceptional, imho...

i expect that he will do more of that kind of thing though...
it's very YY

Sale Alert! Comme des Garçons

The last time Comme des Garcons had one of their "shopping festivals" in New York—which they call Market Market (so good they named it twice!)—the racks seemed to stretch forever in the vast Croatian Church on the West Side. People were given enormous shopping bags when they walked in, and often they needed more than one. Because when Comme is 70% off, one hoards.
Now comes the sequel, Market Market 2. Beginning May 10, Comme will once again put out their best old stock, all the brands under the Comme umbrella from the last eight seasons. As before, the merch is replenished and rotated each day, so no chance of shopping fatigue.
Comme des Garçons Market Market 2
May 10 - 13, 10 am - 7 pm (Sat: 12 - 8 pm)
127 W. 30th Street (between 6th and 7th Ave)

today is the day...
shop til you drop...

...

using great restraint, i have added 5 more pieces of comme to my closet...

^it was tough to choose, right?
i didn't find much last year, but this time, there were easily 5 pieces
i would have loved to buy, and all of them were very special.

i just got one thing though...a pair of pants with big wide suspenders
that cross in the back. they are adorable.

yeah- i was waiting for you to speak up...
...

i wonder if you bought any of the pieces i was admiring. :P
there was one little short sleeved jacket with a zipper and huge peter pan collar
that i can't stop thinking about.
but i'll get over it. :judge:

sounds like you found some good stuff? :flower:

doubtful
i don't do peter pan collars...

i got two button down shirts, one top that ties and two basic jackets...

most of my stuff is comme comme or tricot...
i was specifically looking for that because i am drawn to more basic stuff now to go with the stuff i already have...

i did select some nice things for my friend though-
a pinstripe junya dress, some navy robe de chambre overalls, an amazing motorcycle coat, a tailcoat, a cropped, hooded sweatshirt...
i'm slowly converting her...
:P

your pants sound really cute and fun!!!
i didn't even look at bottoms for myself...
just tops

the best thing i got is a shirt that has a little dress sewn onto the front of it...
:bounce:

oh right! you just mentioned that recently and i forgot.
but i thought you didn't do button up shirts either?

actually (and surprisingly) several of the pieces I loved were quite body conscious for conscious for comme. not exactly "practical," though,
so i resisted. the pants are great...almost a hybrid of suspender and overall, so pretty much what i've been searching for.

did your friend buy that very simple pinstripe dress from last fall? i saw those navy overalls and probably should have tried them on..don't know what i was thinking, but i'm glad they've gone to a good home. :P

your shirt sounds most intriguing...
the jacket selection was very good, i thought...it was huge!

yes- that's the dress...
i think those overalls are best on someone with no curves on the bottom and you definitely have a waist, so i think you made the right choice...
my guy friend (purechris) got junya denim patchwork overalls--- SOOOOOOO amazing!!!

i know i know...
i don't do shirts very often and i just bought 2 more...
...
believe me, the ridiculousness is not lost on me...
but i mostly don't do them because they are too stiff...
and neither of these are...

you'd probably be surprised by my purchases...
they are VERY simple pieces...
it's just that they fit me so well because of the narrow shoulders and nothing else ever does...

i probably could have come home with 5 jackets if i didn't have some sense...

*was just in vanessa bruno looking for a jacket...
looked horrible in every one!
hahaha...
so guess who wound up buying one instead?
:P...

like you said- at least it went to a good home...
^_^

ah, good to know.

that's great that you found stuff that fits so well....a button up shirt
can be such a perfectly androgynous thing, so naturally softgrey's
wardrobe is not complete without them. :P
and who needs a Vanessa Bruno jacket when you just got two from comme?

:innocent:

this is what my pants look like, but they are long.

LOVE that!
so super charming!!!
is that comme comme?

*not to be impertinent, but what happens with the boobs and the straps...?
seems like a possible conflict of interests...
:P......:ninja:

i confess that i did get one of the shirts thinking that it would look really perfect under that Y's strappy jumper that i have...
it's blue and white stripes w. black collar and cuffs...
crinkly polyester...
:D

seems like a possible conflict of interests...
:P......:ninja:

i know. it seems like a terrible idea, right?

but they are actually very neutralizing...i guess because the waist is quite wide and basically held up by the straps, so it creates the illusion of straight lines,
even from the side. But I always find this to be true with overalls and suspenders...
and I am very sensitive to that issue.
:D

so my dilemma now is how to hem them. it's a lot of pant for a small person,
so I wonder if i should shorten to ankle length and then roll them shorter if i want?
they are comme comme, yes.

i like the sound of this shirt under the red label jumper! :bounce:
maybe with a laced, high-heeled ankle boot of some sort?

a high heeled ankle boot...???
ohhh...like maybe a VB boot...?!?!...
hahaha..

i was thinking of something like that but flatter...
but, that's a good idea that i will definitely try...
thx...

about hemming...
what is the fabric?
is it easy to roll?
i'm guessing it's either poly or wool, which is not so easy to roll...
they tend to fall back down...
if it's cotton, then, yes- by all means...

either way- i like the cropped idea...
^_^

thanks for explaining about the straps...
i know you know what you're doing and have faith that you're gonna make them look adorable...
i imagine them with a shirt buttoned all the way...
something very collegiate...
...

*that place was so dusty that my allergies exploded afterwards...
had to throw all my purchases in a hot dryer for 20 min to kill whatever dustmites came home with them...
:ninja:...

heh heh...i was not thinking of those actually, i was imagining more of an oxford with a heel. but of course, with your proportions, a flat shoe would be good too. :flower:

yeah, the pants are wool and they don't stay rolled so well.
i haven't tried them with a button up yet. i was wearing a sleeveless top when i tried them on
and that was definitely good.

but cropping them may be the way to go, so they don't overwhelm me.
in person consult may be necessary for this very important decision. :meow:

***the dust was awful...i had white powder all over me and was pretty much
a mess when i got out. oh, the things we do.

the shoe will be important in making the decision re cropping...
seems like rei always shows that sort of thing with repetto oxfords and little socks...

i'm sure mr mochi will be glad to give you his very expert opinion...
i'll check his appointments and see when he is available for a consult...
:meow:...

comme comme fw2011...such a fantastic collection... hard to find pictures only the video.
havent posted a recent purchase in a while but this one got me very excited. it was shown as a dress but i wear it open like a sheer coat. it has sliver knife pleats running down the shoulder to three big knots at the shoulder, waist and the hip. its evil its so good!

the jacket i posted, just because...do you blame me?
