Converse - The All-Things 'Converse Sneakers/Trainers' Thread

^that's not the issue. this is the issue. the fact the nike-owned converse still makes products that are still the same "style" is irrelevant. the fact is that converse are more than likely made in sweatshops, and sweatshops in china at that . . . on top of that the fact remains that by buying converse i will be adding to nike's profits. rewarding nike for their sweatshops, their blatant disassociation from what really is knowingly happening in their sweatshops, and they are doing nothing to change it.

Understandable... so where do you buy all of your clothes/shoes at? Just curious... I do not believe that I have much knowledge on this subject and would like to know more... I don't believe I know of one product that is made out of Asia or South America...

I think they look good with the right style... ie. a 'comfy jeans' look, but imo not with skirts. Ive never bought any because theyre not my style AT ALL, so i figure i wont be able to carry them off very well. Think id feel a bit clownish.

just my two cents

i don't care if they're trendy. when they stop being trendy, people that really like them (not the ppl that wear them because they were stylish) will still be wearing them.

My chuck's go with everything, they are breathable, cruelty-free (well animal cruelty that is, sweatshop labor is another story) and totally classic.

^ Well said.... now I want the hi tops in red, and lo tops without laces in black.... Red is so not my color of choice, but I guess a little change can't hurt... I'll probably be getting them in winter though, when I'll save up a little more. ^_^

it seems to me a bit - that converse became one of these stament garments, you know they seem to signfy that the person belongs to something somehow alternative and possibly has a taste for indie rock. this seemed to me always one big reason for their popularity at least in europe - because honestly - comfy or not who wants to pay 60€ up for a bit of cloth with rubber?

GOSH!! It cost so much at your place (60€)? Yes i agree that wearers are mostly people who are into alternative indie rock, cos I am one of them heehee :p..

I own more than 4 pairs.. it's easy to mix & match with my clothings! ^_^
And I can get 2 pairs free a year due to my work.. so Y not, just choose and wear them heeheee :D

oooh i love the all white ones in post #131

i know most ppl like them dirty but i love them all clean and white but worn in with the colored ones.

i have 2 high tops and 1 low cut, they are not the most comfortable sneaker IMO but just love how they go with everything :D

B) Would love to get the all white vans slip on next tho.

I looove them and wear them since a couple of years... I had one pair I wore out too much, I gave those away.

Right now I wear purple ones, the laces I put in are black with white dots ^_^

My mum hates them but I never cared... esp. since I moved out!

They go well with a laid back casual style... punk, hippie or sporty. Ethno, too IMHO.

They are very versatile.... Dressed up or down.. ...they're still my shoe of choice.

im in love with those! do you reckon they just came in that colour or are they bleached out black ones?

they're probably just worn black chucks.

i have black lowtops and green hightops. i love my chucks : )

however, i doubt i'll be buying any more since nike bought converse. i haven't worn nike since i was 12 and learned about sweatshops. plus, the company just seems so... heartless, to me. like they know exactly how to contort the consumer's mind.

i think these are it.

Chucks come in all sorts of colors... they look gray/olive-ish to me.... and they're not old... look at the white rubber part of the shoe... they look nothing like my WORN chucks... at least.. not worn enough for the black dye to fade...

I'm going to merge this with the "Converse Trainers" thread. :)

I don't know if these have been posted, but these are pretty different and more girly.
