CORY'S CORNER: SAY HI TO YOUR MOM
Cory Kennedy isn’t daunted by "mom jeans." Here, she liberates the most unflattering fit.
The online Urban Dictionary defines “mom jeans” as “too high, too tight, tapered leg jeans which manage to showcase any bodily flaw the wearer has.” Well, not if you play your cards right! The key to making mom jeans look good is just to be creative and courageous.
For my first of three different outfits, all using the same pair of jeans, I tucked them inside gladiator sandals. The only downside is that it does make you look shorter than you are, but it’s still bangin’!
For the second, I cuffed the bottom of the jeans, and wore some chunky pumps to reconstruct the freaky shape. You win your height back with the heels, and can wear a belt, which you couldn’t do with flats because it would accentuate the high waist too much.
For the final try, I took a tan leather belt that wraps around twice and wore it below the belt loops to give a new dimension to the high waist. The cropped striped top really worked well because the busy pattern evened out the mom jeans cut. These aren’t your mom’s mom jeans!
