ughhh Lauren, again? I think she's becoming the Cosmopolitan's cover girl in every 6 months...
Just like the magazine covers themselves, Cosmo has proven to have a "formula" for its covergirls.
They feature the same covergirls up to three times throughout a girl's career. Once they believe they've captured the essence of the covergirl fullout, they're done. No more use! John Lanuza, the Photo Director, has said this. For example, Cosmo is "done" with Carrie Underwood because they're satisfied with the way they portrayed her and got her to open up by the time they shot her the third time. Of course, non of that is set in stone. They may very well feature Carrie again to get details on her newlywed sex life. Who knows. But there is a pattern there. Girls are repeated and shuffled each year.
I also feel like Cosmo misses out on a lot of hot topic cover girls. Finally they got it right with Jessica Alba for the September issue, but frankly no one cares about her movie Machete so that defeated the purpose of featuring someone who has some project to promote. Glamour constantly snatches up the HOT girl of the season before Cosmo gets to her (ie Zoe Saldana when featured with Leighton Meester and Amanda Seyfried). They almost features girls AFTER the fact and thus try to tailor the interview/celebrity article to fit that.
