That article just made me shudder as I realized how rusty my German has become. I need to take some lessons asap!

The first page doesn't really have new biographical information or quotes, but the commentary basically says that a very wealthy woman has many options on how to spend her money, and it's admirable that she would choose to fund an art project instead of spending it on expensive cars and stuff like that. And that it's better for a very wealthy man to have an intelligent, cultured partner by his side.

I couldn't quite translate the most interesting part, of it often being mentioned that she used to model, but that there are very few traces of this. Then it goes into something about biased and unflattering photographs, and her relationship with Abramovich. Can anyone clear that up?

The second page is scanned too small, and my head aches too much to read it.

^thanks

what do you want to have translated? the whole article? 'cause I could seeing as I'm Austrian ^^

Not the whole thing, its pretty long lol. Just the most interesting parts?

Just one more thing - this may seem silly - but one of the screencaps says that it's hard to imagine her as a homeopathy student, but very easy to imagine her as a model. Since when do models and actresses have a monopoly on beauty? I have met quite a few girls who could easily have been models, but instead chose to pursue studies and careers that had nothing to do with their looks.

It's pretty much like GasolineRainbow said: the first page is basically about how she's not only spending her money on expensive clothes and cars but is the owner of a non-profit gallery for modern art instead.

There's not much know about her relationship with Abramowitsch but rumor is that he already asked her to marry him.

She came to England when her parents got a divorce and - like GasolineRainbow already mentioned - used to model for a while, though there's hardly any proof of that, her "empty gaze" / her slightly fake looking lips being the only indicators.

She studied homeopathic medicine at the University of Santa Barbara and is - in addition to that - very interested in art and fashion. She recently launched her own fashion label Kova&T together with her highschool friend Christina Tang.

second page:
She might be a jet-set girl but is rarely seen on parties for longer than a few minutes. For most Russian girls she's become some sort of role-model, though: attractiv, going steady with one of the world's richest men and the owner of her own fashion label.

The rest is pretty much just about how she talked Abramowitsch into buying some rather expensive paintings (one from Degas for 26, 5 million dollars, one from Francis Bacon for 86,3 million dollars, and so on) and how the soft opening of the bus garage (aka the gallery) went down. For 1,2 million dollars she got Amy Winehouse to perform and all of Russia's art scene has been present.

ah well, prejudices.

I agree, but homeopathy is a pretty dumb discipline, though. You'll have to be very naive to believe in this rubbish, let alone study it as an academic subject.

^ I'm not a believer at all either. But I have a background in health issues, and it can be useful to study homeopathy, as it contains a range of concepts (not to be confused with healing/preventative remedies or cures) that could aid the scientific, social, and political approach to medicine. Anyway, she took Slavic Studies and pre-med at USC (biology, chemistry and such, I doubt USC offers homeopathy courses), so her education isn't flaky. Then she studied homeopathy in London, did she ever get her degree?

^ I don't think she did, in the UK Vogue interview I remember it saying something about the people on her course not being the kind she thought they'd be (random)/not liking the course but I could be wrong

Homeopathy is only interesting as a tool to study the Placebo effect (which is fascinating and of genuine public and academic interest), its theories and concepts are worthless for the scientist.
Thank you for the extra information on her CV: definitely not an air-head then, I stand corrected.:flower:

I respectfully understand where you're coming from, but I don't think any model of holistic health (not only homeopathy) is worthless for scientists; just the opposite, medical science is hurt by invalidating it. I must stress again that I don't mean treatment, but rather a philosophy towards treatment, the doctor-patient relationship etc. But since this is getting too off-topic, I would happily respond in a pm if you want to debate:) Back to Dasha and her style then...

great pictures but what the heck is going on with her friend in the "LV" jacket? FAKE??
