Because every second girl on the street has a nose ring these days. That, combined with Daria's power status that lets her choose work where she's mainly styled 'naturally' or 'as herself' make her look common, and IMO, lackluster.

i don't think it's a matter of ordinary or personality. it seems to me that it has more to do with her will to escape from models' glamour stereotypes. like an act of freedom. maybe there's something adolescent, but message is clear.

Since when does having a nose ring make Daria "not better?" She's one of the highest paid models in history and has the luxury of being exclusive and choosy with her campaigns and editorials. She is better. Perhaps that's why she decided to pierce her nose, because she knew that she could and it wouldn't adversely affect her career (which we all know she doesn't really care about anyway).

Just because some people view tattoos and piercings as "trendy" does not mean that every girl who has tattoos/piercings is herself trendy. Some girls just do it for fun. And if Daria wants her nose pierced, who are we to judge?

I personally love that she says f#%& it and does what she wants!
