Her real background is definitely Polish, which would explain her parents leaving Ukraine for Poland. I've known so many Eastern Europeans and their names, and her name sounds very Polish, especially with those "W"s in there. Most likely her family is from a part of Ukraine that used to be part of Poland, since the borders in that part of the world changed a lot in the last century. For example there are more than a million Hungarians in Romania, but they definitely call themselves Hungarians.
If you search the internet for "Werbowy", a lot of Polish sites come up (that don't have anything to do with Daria).

Her original name is actually Verbova,which is quite simple Slavic name, easly could be Russian, Ukrainian, Polish or Czech.

She is definitely Ukranian, Daria never mentioned anything about having Polish in her blood. Both her parents are from Ukraine.

I think the whole thing about daria being saddened by too much critism is way over exaggerated. She seems like a very humble person and it says nowhere that she is walking around crying a river because people might say negative things about her. She does her job just like everyone else and obviously take the negativity in good stride because it doesn't seem to be holding her back any time soon. She probaly doesn't even have the time to even think let alone care what normal people or some fashion people think of her, seems better than to let some people's opinions stop her from doing her job. Rock on Daria and just do your thang girl.
