I got my home/mail edition of April 2006 US Vogue yesterday and there was a Lancome ad supplement.
The 3rd page 'Air of Mystery' was grainy to begin with...difficult to scan. Scans by me.

Well...ads are usually hype but I can't say they were far off from the truth at all with Miss Webowy. Daria comes off as very confident and intelligent to me.

And Boomer, you're welcome. It's not easy for me to find new stuff on Daria as there are so many Daria ads who usually beat me to the punch!

It all started with Linda Evangelista: the St. Catharines-born stunner put Canadian beauty on the global map when she shot to fame as a supermodel in the early 1990s. As Canadian designers show off their stuff at L’Oréal Fashion Week (it's being held March 13-18 in Toronto), Canuck models are also the cream of the international scene, spreading true north style on runways and magazine covers across the world.

Having just launched a huge campaign as the face of Lancôme, Mississauga's Daria Werbowy is our most prominent beauty ambassador. Born in the Ukraine, the fresh-faced 22-year-old has had an astounding rise since appearing in Marc Jacobs' 2003 runway show. Cover shots under her belt include the American, Italian and French editions of Vogue and in 2005 she opened and closed shows for 12 different designers — an industry record.

This past Olympus Fashion Week in New York, Werbowy walked for such heavy hitters as Caroline Herrera, Karl Lagerfeld and Oscar de la Renta. Evangelista once said she didn't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day — does it smart that Daria's reputed runway fee is a mind-blowing $20,000?
Prarie modelling agency Mode has eagle-eyed a bevy of babes, such as Poland-born, Edmonton raised Agnieszka Wichniewicz. Sultry, dark-haired Marla Boehr was spotted by Mode in 2003 at — where else? — the Calgary Stampede. In 2005, the Lethbridge native made fashion headlines when Prada maven Miuccia booked her exclusively for the March shows in Milan.

A Vogue cover and runway work for Calvin Klein and Karl Lagerfeld are the result of a career born after Calgary native Heather Marks won Mode's model search in 2000. The wide-eyed 17-year old, along with fellow Albertan Lisa Cant (discovered in an Edmonton Ikea), has been dubbed a “baby doll alien” by Internet fans enamoured of their giant peepers.

Kincardine, Ontario's Jessica Stam (first spotted at a Tim Horton's, of course) also knows that modelling can be all-around glam: the 20-year old has starred in ads for Dolce & Gabbana and BCBG, and not only did Marc Jacobs name the Stam bag in her honour, she's reputed to be dating rockstar Anthony Kiedis. It seems as though it's Canadians, blond or otherwise, who are having all the fun.
