Daria Werbowy

There COULD be a reason why Daria opted to forgo all the shows this season with the exception of Chanel....

I FOUND THE ARTICLE!

SHOW ME THE MONEY: That's what Susan J. Burych, who owns a boutique model and talent agency in Toronto, told IMG Models regarding model-of-the-moment Daria Werbowy. Under Burych's guidance, the young Werbowy was introduced to the world of modeling and, eventually, to the big firms, like IMG. In 1998, Burych — who is known as Susan J — negotiated a deal and transition to IMG that stipulated that Burych's agency would receive 10 percent of Werbowy's commission for five years. Werbowy left IMG in 2001 for another agency but joined IMG again two years later.

Following the deal, Burych said IMG repeatedly refused to pay the commission and eventually sent her a check for $70. The paltry amount ignited Burych to fight even more to receive commission "and not back down," she said. IMG recently agreed to settle with Burych after two court cases in Ontario, where the next step would have been going to trial. Burych said she is satisfied with the settlement. An IMG spokesman declined comment.

So they basically fight for a part of a money they got from another person's hard work. We all know how it works (not only this business), but its even weirder written down.

^ which Natalia?

Is that Natalia V. Sorry but Daria reminds me more Romy than that Natalie!

Yeah I agree, but you know, everybody wants a piece of that cake even if it's Daria who gave that cake this unique taste!!! Sorry I tried to do some poetry

the thing is if you have a hot commodity (ex. Daria) you take it for all its worth. too often successful girls get caught in the tug-of-war between agencies.

as usual smartie said something wise about the business.
but this court stuff - sorry, i don't have my dictionary at hand - has lasted at least 2 years (i first knew about it reading an article last year at the vogue france site and the article was published in 2004, maybe even in 2003), so why couldn't she do any shows only in the last season?
it also sound strange to me - following this interpretation - that she totally skipped the ss06 shows and then she did almost 30 shows - opening 11 of them, if i'm not wrong - last season (fall06). rather, it seems to me that img has more widely changed her strategy about daria in the last 6 months, maybe - i say 'maybe' - giving up the plan of making her a real supermodel: no more interviews, no more eds, no more events, a new spokeperson at lancome... and maybe they've come to terms that daria is a great topmodel, not a real supermodel. well, we'll see.

thanks for new pics and videos. hopefully i'll be able to see them soon and i'll add the links in my blog. :flower:

Daria is going to be on E Talk Daily on CTV tonight. They are doing a segment on the top 5 Canadian models, just giving Canadians a heads up!

^ I saw the preview for that...they showed a video of Heather Marks and Shalom Harlow also...I'm gonna try to tape it, and then see if i can youtube it...my mom told me that she knows there's a way we can transfer videos to the computer usuing a video camera,,I have a Stam video I want to post, so i'll see if I can do it later this week :)

^ I just saw it! She was # 3, Heather Marks was # 5. The rest of the list was Tricia Helfner (4), Shalom Harlow (2) and Linda Evangelista (1).

That doesn't mean Daria's been replaced, has it? Because honestly, I don't see Lancome forking out a multimillion dollar contract for a cosmetics deal that lasts just a year. And Daria has said that she enjoys the traveling that comes with being the face of Lancome much more than walking the runway, I don't see her really wanting to give that up.

The IMG/Susan J. thing really annoyed me, especially when they tried to silence her with a cheque for $70. It reminds me of the big guy picking on the little guy, thinking that they can't do anything because they're so small and insignificant. And $70 is an insult when you think of how much Daria has made - that is certainly not 10%.

That wasn't the article I read it in though. The one I read had "Daria Werbowy declined to comment. Smart girl." at the end. lol

F***(word) I missed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree about the position, but who is Tricia Helfner?

Here are my choices.
1) Linda Evangelista (of course, she's the biggest supermodel ever)
2) Shalom Harlow (yeah I agree)
3) Daria Werbowy (she's my number 1, but she's not as known as Linda & Shalom)
4) Heather Marks (she's alos my personnal no 1) or Stam (because she's the pionner of the Aliens-Doll models)
5) Because I don't know who is Tricia (maybe if I see a picture of her I will reconize her), my choice for the last position it will be... Yasmin Gaurhi!!

I forgot Tasha Tilberg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Other great Canadians models : Yasmine Warsame, Jessiann Gravel-Béland, Michelle Valencourt, Julia Dunstall (I don't remember if she writes her name like that), Monica Vaughan (red hair beauty), Coco Rocha and many many more!!!!!

Tricia Helfer was the host of Canada's Next Top model, the winner of Supermodel of the World in 1988, the first "big" face of Mode Models (Heather Mark's mother agent), regular Fashion, Flare, Maxim covergirl, actress on Battlestar Galactica.. I don't think she deserves it so much in the fashion sense that someone like Jessica Stam deserves it.
