Can Daria speak French?
( because she lived in Paris for 5 months or what..)
She probably can if she lived in Paris and grew up in Canada. Most Canadians now some French because it is one of Canada's official languages and they have it mandatory in some Canadian schools ;)

awww! sorry!! I've answered a question with less details which was yet answered by Gina ...sorry!! I've just seen that. Well, the 2nd thing I know is that her sister did most of her studies in Paris at la Sorbonne.
At least she knows how to say hello and bye in french :) Otherwise I wouldn't be against the idea of learning her !

Canada has 2 official languages...English & French. In school everyone learns some French but French is only spoken in the province of Quebec and is not mandatory in any other province (for the general public). But in a lot of Government positions you must be able to read and speak French or have some knowledge of French (depending of the position).
Daria is from the province of Ontario.

^ In Ontario, children are required to study French from Grades 1 - 9, at least 5 hours a week. You cannot graduate from any Ontario high school without a high school French credit. Most students drop it after Grade 9, but many continue.

But just because you studied it every day for an hour for 9 years doesn't mean you can speak it fluently. I studied it for 14 years and my French is very stilted. You need to constantly practice or surround yourself in an environment that speaks French (ie. Montreal) to pick it up and speak fluently.

If it is required............how do the students drop it?
Oh never mind.................getting way off topic:lol:
Back to Daria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what happened with me. You have to take it till Grade 9 than you can either drop it or take it. I am still taking French. But I imagine if Daria came from Ontario she would have some knowledge of French because it is right beside Quebec.

Anyways............. :innocent:
