Daria Werbowy

what a sad thing to read, she lives in a beautiful world like this and she doesn't like it, so many girls would die for be in her place :(

the fashion world is not as glamourous and beautiful as its look. but whatever it is im glad that the most powerful stylist in the world likes her. daria doesnt work on vogue's schedule but her own.

it's always nice to hear that there is still a big demand for her presence

amazing news of s/s campaign. daria will be featured in maiyet s/s 13 campaign shot in india. amazing location! can't wait!

I love fashion and models just as much as everyone else on here, but I SO appreciate that Daria hasn't become complacent. It's not enough for her to just be a pretty face. She does live in a beautiful world, and she's out enjoying it.
:flower:

All that glitters is not gold....it is only beautiful on the outside.
When I was younger I went out with quite a well known model and he hated it, as well as most of the people that he worked with. Only the money was appealing.
Nearly every model I spoke to had plans to move on to other careers and many of them where girls that would be considered supermodels.

models in general are being treated like puppies. the majority of them are powerless except for a few so im sure whatever happens behind the scene is not that pretty. then there is unspoken competition among models. just too many thing.

but whatever, if i get paid a few hundreds k a year, i wouldnt mind the dirty aspects of it.

such a fame i have!! i think i saw that pic... naughty!!

i then found the link and saw the latest shots too. they are in india shooting mayet. thanks.

any news from fat magazine instead? i am very curious to see the rest!

Not surprised by Grace Coddington's quote, it's quite endearing. I've always admired Daria for being different from her fellow model (and fashion) citizens.

Most models say that and it's valid considering modeling careers usually don't last very long. But then why isn't Daria moving on when she's not enjoying it? I'm not sure I get how people can admire someone for doing something they're not enjoying (this is not directed at you, btw, LuLover) I think it's a bit lame to do something you hate when you could be doing something else instead, move on with your life, find out what you really want, etc. I'm not judging Daria, I'm just wondering why that is, because maybe someday - when even she may not be in demand as a model anymore - she might regret it? I don't know much about Daria, so maybe she is pursuing other things on the side that I haven't heard about, but reading this statement by Grace Coddington definitely baffled me, it's kind of sad.

if it wasnt because of the money that she got from her modeling career then her favorite hobby of sailing would have never happened. it's her modeling works that turn her hobbies into a reality. be realistic here, how many models can say" no" to million of dollars that they get paid annually?

there is nothing lame about having a job that u hate. in fact, billion people around the world are doing what they hate every day but they are still doing it. it's more than jsut a job, it's about making a living.

daria is living a life that most people are jealous of. she spends more than six months of the year sailing and traveling the world. so what so bad about it?

also, it's only grace coddington said that daria "hates" modeling but daria has never said that herself. im sure she appreciates it a lot based on many of the interviews that she has done before.

But not many people are as privileged and her and have a choice. Yes it's probably nice she can afford her hobby by occasionally doing a job she dislikes. I'm just wondering how someone can eventually be happy and feel accomplished when they do something they hate when there are so many other opportunities out there. I believe having goals and pursuing something you love, especially when you have the chance to do so, is more admirable than someone doing a job they hate and complain about it when they really don't have to do it. But again, it's her life, she can do whatever she wants. I just find it surprising people admire her for that when there are people who are actually grateful for getting to do this job and love what they're doing. Or people who do crappy jobs and hate it but don't have the choice and don't complain about it. Just my opinion.

*ETA: Didn't see that last comment. Yeah, if she herself hasn't mentioned anything about hating her job then that does actually make a difference, I agree.

Well firstly this is a second hand quote...so, lets take it with a grain of salt

Grace works for Vogue US which is not a very creative magazine - not to undermine her talent, but its certainly not cutting edge - this type of work would be a bit monotonous. Obviously Daria likes working with Cass and I&V so it may be more a case of her not liking the type of work that Grace is offering....
I guess now she has the freedom to pick and choose.....

I didn't judge Daria, i still think it's sad to read something like that, i know fashion world isn't easy but i'm sure a girl on her level do what she wants and she doesn't have the stress like new girls. Anyway the word "sad" it's because it's indeed sad she doesn't like what she does, i don't think she has to love it anyway but reading something like that after all the accomplishments she has done makes me sad.

I always remember Daria saying in an interview; “ I've had a lot of mixed feelings about what I do … A lot of the time, I feel like I'm part of the problem when it comes to all the superficiality and vanity that impacts the way girls grow up”. which has always stuck with me, so it wouldn't surprise me if she does indeed hate it. I've always thought of her as a model that didn't particularly care about modelling which made me like her even more! You never really saw her turning up to tons of events so she could become better well known, she just seemed to do her job (well), get paid, go home and do what it was she loved.

im sure there are parts of her job that she likes and doesnt like. so, it is unfair to use grace coddington's quote to sum up her feeling about the industry.

i admire her for the fact of acknowledging the problems with the industry. seriously, do people need wear jacket made out of crocodile skin or any other exotic skins? do people need 50 purses in their closets? morally, there are so many problems with the industry.
