I love David Yurman Jewelry - although it is crazy overpriced for sterling silver.

I am shocked that there is not a thread about him - there are a few threads on ad campaigns - and 1 comparing him to John Hardy - but I figured we needed one.

I want one of his bracelets for my birthday - so I thought I would start this.

He has so many pieces - so I am posting group pics. I consider myself an expert on DY - so please ask questions! I'll give details on stones, metal, settings, prices, etc.

I LOVE his work - tell me if I post too much tho..

In my opinion - DY's Albion collection is one of the best. It was such an original, classic collection that can be worn by glamourous old women, and by young punky girls. Its a staple.

It might like like many other knockoffs, but he was the first really to take this traditional Balinese style into an extravagant, elegant level.

The Cable Candy Collection is a lot more youthful + funky than his signature line.

It is so rare for jewelry designers to set colored gemstones in pavé form.

But considering this line is a pavéd form of his signature line (albion, etc.), there is NO reason for such a huge price jump. all the 18k gold is gone - and at this day-in-age, the stones are cheap compared to gold.

Maybe I'm wrong - but the labor costs involved (in Bali) in setting stones should not be more expensive than the US/Asia/etc. gold price.

Nevertheless - I love it! --- and the name suits it... CANDY!

^to specify ... it is a lot cheaper to set stoned in sterling with MINIMAL diamonds... than to simply set them in gold.

Bulls****.

Cute collection ... but is based purely on the fact that everything looks like white gold or platinum - if it were... the prices would not be insane.

But its all silver (costs dollars per pound).

And based on the carat weight there is not a lot of diamonds. - Looks cute in jewelry store lighting but not worth it... AT ALL!

hmmm...

Buy the "inspired" version. Nothing special.

Go to a wholesale deal when buying chain by the inch/foot.
