Diane Kruger

Like in a fashion-related sense or in her career?
In a fashion related sense

Selling out? Are you kidding me? She probably has the most consistent style in Hollywood.

If you look at her style back in 04/05/06 when her career just started launching it is much different than the way she dresses now, IMO.

Also, I feel like in terms of her "candid style" she dresses trendy for the cameras. Before she became a bigger paparazzi target I thought her street style was much more tasteful.

But that's just my 2 cents

yes but with fame and success come both money and higher profile - both of which would give you access to designers and better clothing/shoes. I think she's always had impecable taste, and has worked with what she had (clothing wise). It's just that now she gets to wear Chanel etc.

She used to wear Chanel back when I liked her style the best.... I just thought she wore it better

LolaSvelt, My explanation would involve me posting lots of pics.. so I will do it when I have more time :)

Diane will receive an award for her carrier in Berlin at the end of the week.
It´s a glamorous gala, so we´ll have another hopefully great entrance of her.

Huh? She still wears a lot of Chanel. She wore it two days in a row in December when she announced the Globes nominations and at the Basterds DVD premiere party.

If anything, I'm extremely happy to see her in something else. It shows her versatility. Chanel would be boring after a while.

Yes but in Diane's case this doesn't apply as she's always worn Chanel. When she first came onto the international scene (2004) Diane already had access to the big labels like Balenciaga, YSL, Dior, Lanvin etc. She was a model and met Karl when she was 16 years old. It's been in the last few years that she has been mixing with American designers like Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen and Jason Wu.

I think she just gets sent way more free stuff now and it comes from other labels who want her to raise their profile.

When she was just starting out she wore tons of Chanel because she was really close with Karl. but now she wears more variety! She's just expanded her horizon of fashion!

You misunderstand what I was saying.

I was simply saying that she also wore high end designers like Chanel back when I thought she dressed the best. And the reason I feel like she is kinda selling out is not because she wears more high end designers now but because I feel like she chooses pieces just to stand out and look very trendy. Like the poofy pink dress she wore to the GGs, the blue/yellow stella mccartney piece, the urban outfitters dress, the fugly straw hats, or the military-esque boots she always wears in candids

Eh, I disagree. I think she wears what she likes. Just because you don't like the pieces doesn't mean she's wearing it to "stand out".

That's a very radical interpretation of what I said :innocent:

Maybe she isn't but it looks that way to me. And whether or not she is wearing them to stand out or not, I still don't like them.

just saw the new pics of her, I think that she looked absolutely fabulous in that dress!!!

I love her fashion sense. She always looks flawless. But she still hasn't convinced me as an actress. She is less than mediocre, imo. Her doing her own voice-overs in German surely doesn't help, they are horrible (I remember watching the German dub of "Troy" and that people would start giggling every time she had a line). What I'm trying to say is: I love her style, she's obviously familiar with trends and fashion but she is selling herself as an actress and acting like she's all that when she just isn't. What makes me so angry about that is, that I think that she has the talent but it's like she doesn't feel the need to improve it because it's working just fine for her as it is.

omg, i completely agree. i think she is one of the best dressed people in lala land but i only like her style, the only movies i've seen with diane have been troy (bana, pitt & bloom.. enough said^_^), wicker park (in that it was rose byrne who got my attention) and national treasure (forgot why i watched it) and she just doesn't capture me with her acting. yes she can do better but she's not a great talent imho.

I kind of agree. I think part of the reason why she doesn't want to improve is because acting isn't her passion. I remember reading a quote where she said she quit modeling because she was tired of trying to portray perfection, but modeling isn't just about looking pretty. As many successful models have said, modeling is a bit like acting, you have to transform into characters and convince the audience. I think she was just tired of modeling, so she turned to acting to make a living. I think if she were serious about it, she would try to grow as an actress. But like you said, it's working just fine for her and she's contempt with that.

I didn't think so much of her as an actress until I saw Frankie, which is a great performance.

Inglourious Basterds was brilliant, but I credit Tarentino 100% for that. Kruger was good, but let's face it she was playing a German movie star - not much of a stretch.

Her SAG dress was a-m-a-z-i-n-g on her, great fit, but... I still don't like mustard. It's just one the colours that I hate, like neon colours or Barbie pink. So, I'm still waiting for another/the next outfit to wow me.

As for acting, I'm inclined to agree that she has far to go before she's truly good. But if it's not her passion...? Then I'm content with just looking at her style.
