I agree. To me it looks like some sort of bizarre velvet towel that she's haphazardly tied herself to make it look like a dress

I think she looks very young and fresh and it's good for her to dress the way she wants. She has amazing body and doesn't look her age so why she has to dress like a 40-something lady?

The Vanity Fair dress doesn't work for me mostly because of its length. I would have said it was too short even if it were worn by a twenty-something girl. And the towel hanging in the middle makes it even tackier.

Then again, I used to love Diane's outfits because she breathed some sort of ease into them, not because they were always appropriate or classy. So maybe I dislike everything she wears lately because she weirdly seems to be trying too hard after the split? Not sure if that makes sense.

I think she might feel insecure because of her age, did she use to dress so "teen" irl a few years ago? lately all I see is shorts too short, bib overalls without a shirt underneath... was it confirmed that the new hair style is because of a role? I have this idea that she´s styling it like that to hide her widow's peak.

^ She's had the widow's peak her whole life, but i think you're correct, she's going through some hair thinning and trying to cover it, making it more awkward.

I don't think the dress is *that* bad, but she needs to lay low for awhile (and stop posting corny teeny-bopper crap on instagram), she's become quite embarrassing.
