I hate to say, she's completely lost it for me, style-wise. Both casually and formally. I hardly check this thread any more. The only two looks of hers that I really loved this year were the Giambattista Valli at the Vanity Fair party and the Chanel at the MET Gala. I wish she'd stick with the Parisian brands. She has gotten way too trendy for my liking. I blame living in LA!

It's strange, she never used to do any wrong for me, personally.

^ Sadly, agreed, verbatium.

This look seems very grunge a' la Hedi Slimane rejuvenation inspired, I hate it. Not nearly as much as I hate what Josh is wearing though, what the hell is going on there.

I just don't understand why people who dislike her style so much now still bother checking this thread.

^ Well, first of all, I still like Diane. I'm interested in news about her.

Secondly, it still interesting to me to see what she wears. Even if it is nowhere as great in comparison to her old school style. Even if the pieces don't work, she chooses interesting stuff from a wide variety of designers. I've been following her style for so long and been so involved in it that it's just a habitual thing check this thread.

Although, every time I go to visit this thread, deep down I'm hoping that she will revive the great style she used to have and I'll come in and once again see tons of awesome Diane looks.

And as, LabelBasher mentioned, on occasion she does still wear something really great.

I just hate the "trendy" items. Leave those to Miley, Rihanna etc. Diane is my number 2 so I want the inspiration. Miley etc are far from what I'm interested in stylewise (not saying they dont' look good). They just aren't in my age bracket.

The outfit above at the supermarket is great. Cute top, shorts and ballet flats. That denim jacket however needs to be killed by fire.

This outfit is little more simple, fares better than the layered look in #185

Yeah and that for me is a problem. Diane is suppose to set trends.

I don't think she sets trends as much as she is the first to wear a trend . Having a good eye and being friends with designers definitely helps in creating a stylish wardrobe.

I was thinking about it the other day , even Kate Moss who I think of as THE trendsetter , doesn't set trends anymore .

I can't name anyone who is setting trends nowadays .. Can you guys ?

Pretty much every style icon used to dress way better in the earlier 2000s, imo - Kate, Sienna, Diane, Gwyneth, Nicole, Cate......

Heck, even Kate Bosworth used to dress better back then.

^^I know what you mean. my main style inspiration these days comes from fashion editors or streetstyle, but I can't name one celebrity as a good source either, just rosie h.-w. maybe, she looks always great^_^

I think Rosie H W is another kate bosworth ..

I get what you mean! I look to editors for inspiration . The way I see it - designers are
Influnced by fashion insiders styles, think (carine:Joseph) (alt:balmain) , trickle down effect to a celeb stylist - onto the pages of US weekly and down to the masses.

Nowadays , the style setters are the people behind the curtains - a concept which I love

Part of the problem, I think, is also the designers. They are making pieces to look great on the runway or editorial and really branding each collection but there seems to be less of an emphasis on creating a great individual one-off that someone like Diane can wear and can just kill on the red carpet. They are more interested in focusing on creating trendy pieces that the Mileys and Rihannas, and just your typical B-list celeb will flock to.

Prada or Chloe now is nothing compared to Prada or Chloe in 2005 as a creator of red carpet pieces for the stylish elite.

Furthermore, we are loosing a lot of really great designers (McQueen, Galliano, Nicolas Ghesquière, Stefano Pilati). And other designers are just loosing part of their flare like Tom Ford, Karl, Phoebe Philo or Prada.

It's hard to dress amazing when there isn't great stuff to choose from in the first place.
