A good portion of the show reminds me of Christopher Bailey and his heyday at Burberry. I did have high expectation for JWA to push Dior’s ateliers just like how KJ did with his semi coutures. But I guess for a debut under current economy, practicality is nice way to start.

Definitely, the Orlando Collection and Spring 2014 come to my mind like beautiful flashbacks

I agree, that Bar jacket on Sabrina screams Galliano drag Queen couture show circa 2009, very demodé and passé.
The Best bar jackets were made under Raf (actually the suit designer at that time was Fulvio Rigoni) and MGC...modern and sleek.

By the way, the highlight of the livestream was Donatella trying to keep her balance on those skycraper triple stacked platform heels she was wearing with that knee lenght ultra fitted dress LOL

This is Dior cashing in on the Miu Miu market. Everything with the embroidered "Dior" will sell, here in Asia, at least.

I was looking at pictures from the Junya Watanabe show just before - many similarities in the tailoring, mix of high and low, use of denim, references to traditional English style, but Junya is so much more creative and interesting.

What i dislike about it is also what i like about it: the messy and commerciality of it.
If we are honest it's literally how people dress bit mismatched and touch of color with jeans and something design and layered.
as much as i love stricted well edited concept of a show, this freedom is equally valid way to bring a concept forward.

I feel the reality childlike safety that prada try to convey is much more effectively convincing here at Dior, Prada did not dare to make clear choices whereas this tried and has mistakes so i can appreciate it more with its faults and conviction of making clothes under a high fashion house under the current global fears etc

JWA since day one had childlike approach to his designs i think showing on student type models makes sense as a way to keep the focus on the collection they looked like art students on a museum trip literally. (i don't think it was by mistake)

He puts older men and woman in ads so its fine its not only about twinks gods :-)

you go to JWA for Playfulness arty/crafty casual clothes with optimistic aura your literally buying into his idea of a happy life.

I truly hope what we saw on women was not a women's wear preview because if not Dior and Delphine are f**ked. Someone posted above her comment that it takes some time to see a designer's vision, which is true, but if this is a preview of that long-term vision....oy vey. Anyway it's not like she can get fired from LVMH, but still lol.

A very solid start! It is not very distinguishable from his other brands/tenures but that work is what got him hired so not surprised it’s not that different. Styling is horrible for me but I see A LOT of product ready for the shelves and will VERY easy to promote.

Junya did the high-low with denim better with his collection but this was a good effort.

Now on to the main event of women’s!

Left me quite indifferent. A few cute pieces here and there but quite insipid.

I love the fact that he did straight pants, but honestly a big part of it could be street style from young guys in Paris. Feels quite “après garde” if that makes sense.

Many pieces were indeed very KimJonish with the CD buckle, the logo everywhere… but that’s what sells, so…

Anyways, I couldn’t care less about menswear. Let’s wait for couture.

I rather like the few tailored pieces, especially the last suit and the double breasted tuxedo jackets (the grey, the blue), the grey blazers.
I just find this tailoring intriguing
But overall it’s too much denim and too similar to his Loewe, which imho was better, because it had the best leather pieces there.
Not enthralled, not hating, definitely interested to check when it’ll hit the store floor.
And curious to see the images and the direction it goes with the campaign…

I mean its pretty awful. Continuing down the same feminine dior homme KJ was doing. Prob 6 pieces of this will actually be made so it kind of doesnt matter. He only had one shoe idea and its horrible. Its all so 2010.

I like this far more than I expected. Not a fan of the proportions of most of the pants (and oh God, the comically voluminous shorts.... ) but I find it exciting overall and there are several pieces I'm already coveting. It's early, but I'd say I prefer it to his Loewe menswear, so far.

I was afraid of this. It’s good, but I just don’t know if it’s right for Dior. It needs a little bit more refinement. We don’t need a more luxe version of his namesake label.
