Dirt Cheap Designer Scores

I just bought a Tahari skirt yesterday for $20. I really wish designers would stay away from polyester though, it's maddening.

The skirt is poly-blend but I digress.

I Found A Vintage Lagerfeld For Chloe White Lace Dress For 12.99 At Out Of The Closet Thrift Store In Los Angeles In Deadstock Condition (deadstock=perfect New Vintage Condition). They Had The Same Dress In Red At Resurrection For 6500.00. I Sold The Dress To Decades Down The Street. :)

I Found A Brand New Green Chanel 2.55 Gold Chain Bag At Goodwill In Los Angeles For 14.99 Along Side A Brand New Hermes Harnais Bag In Navy For `15.99- These Bags Came Out Together. ;) And I Took Them Home Together.

I Am Always At Thrift Stores. I Am A Buyer For My Own Ebay Store.
If you mean the one off fairfax/ beverly... then you just have amazing luck. I've never found anything at that out of the closet....

^men are at a natural disadvantage for finding thrifted stuff. i think men tend to wear out everything they own until its worthy of being thrown away.

another reason i'm glad i'm not a man.

This is true, but men are more than likely the reason why expensive clothes end up in charity shops/thrift stores in the first place - wife/mother/girlfriend/female leaves or dies, man bundles Jil Sander and Bottega into a binliner, down to Salvation Army on his way to work.
Same with their own/male relatives clothes - it's shocking how much plus-size expensive tailoring you find in thrift stores.
My main disadvantage is that, though I loyally trudge through the male junk, I can't bring myself to look at the 1000% more women's clothes, where I know there are hidden treasures.

a lot of the designer mens clothes that i see at charity shops are actually new with tags donations from higher priced stores looking for a tax write off possibly.

are there a lot of charity shops outside of britain?

Not exactly "dirt cheap", but recently bought the Marc Jacobs Flash Leola for a little over $100 on ebay... it retailed around $500! It has a small patch of discoloration, but it's so faint that no one could ever notice, and it's on the side that faces my body anyway, so it's hidden. Couldn't believe my luck, the leather is incredible, the size is perfect... I wear it everywhere.

wow your purchases are amazing. you re so lucky to have thrift stores where you are.

i once found what am sure is a chanel vintage dress all made of lace the top half is white and from the waist down it s black it has a bow on the waist and pearl buttons. unfortunatly in canada they cut off the tags of almost everything at goodwill.

where i am now there are no thrift stores

What are some good charity shops in London, particularly north. I've been to some on Church Street but they're not exactly "dirt cheap"

I bought a vintage (I'm guessing late 80's early 90's) Dior jacket in my local charity shop for £1 yesterday! Also found an Escada top and an Abercrombie and Fitch top, both £1, and some brand new Pepe jeans with the tags still on for £4.

I am not sure if that counts, but today I got some vintage Gina shoes for £25, they are gold and perfect for the festive season :)

Today's purchases:
Balenciaga men's shirt: £4.99
P.S. Paul Smith men's shirt: £4.99
Calvin Klein men's tie: £2.50

Found but forgot to actually buy an Ermenegildo Zegna tie.

Karl Lagerfeld Skirt Suit - $12
Christian Dior Blazer - $9

I've got a Charles Anastase coat on ebay for less than GBP80 (they are normally over GBP1,2000. It's a sample and it never went on sale and everybody just asks me where I got.

My mom bought Balmain spring-summer 2008 runway maxi dress only for 100 $ last year. First price was about 10 000 $!!!!It was final sale at one of the best boutique in Moscow and they have one dress in 42 french size and my mom didin't loose her chance.

^^ that mcqueen is so gorgeous, i can't explain how jealous i am! i loved that collection

the things i find at my local goodwill are usually blazers by dior and ungaro. but they are always 10 sizes to big for me.
i bought a 100% cashmere Nieman Marcus sweater there for $4. I think I would hyperventile if I saw a brand new chanel bag there

There are a lot of "Chanel" bags at my Goodwill, kept in glass cases behind the counter and everything, but they are ALL fakes!
