Do people still wear powder?

I never use powder...hate it...foundation is enough.

Especially with what I presume are the more natural-looking formulas now on the market. Perhaps you just can't tell when they're still wearing powder...
Exactly. I wear powder every day and it's just not like the olden days rennasiance white wig and 10 inches if white powder look. Powder can be very natural looking... also, I think there's nothing more unattractive than oily shiny skin!

I think most powders today look a lot more natural on the skin. It's just a matter of finding the right shade and never putting on too much. Especially if you have oily skin. I do and foundation works well, but powder adds a nice overall smooth feeling. So just go for it...

On some days if my skin is clear, all I need a dab of powder to take the shine away. As long as my skin is well-moisterised underneath, just wearing powder with no foundation/concealer is ok for me. I love my compact too! I bought an art nouveau compact and transferred my Shiseido powder refill into it.

cant be bothered with foundation either, i much prefer loose powders even though they are not in my everyday routine.
concealer & blush is enough for me

you are so lucky! Well for me i need it or my makeup will rub off in about 30 minutes. sometimes tho i do like that perfect, powdery,50'sesque skin, so ill use a lil more powder, but i blend carefully- and i dont htink that theres anymore chalky powder with new formulation coming around. thats just my opinion.

P.S. :flower: and  for everyone at tFS, i love it here!

I don't feel finished until I've set my make up with loose powder.

I stopped wearing powder a few years ago because I kept reading that it was "passe" :innocent: but I was thinking of going back to it in the hopes of prolonging my foundation- however I'm not sure how it will go with cream and liquid blushes, etc. Would you powder before or after the blush, or are the two just not compatible? Also, what are some good powders? Thanks! :ninja:

I have pretty oily skin, so powder's an absolute necessity for me. I put it on after foundation and concealer, before powder blush--it wouldn't work the other way. Don't know about cream and liquid blush as those have never worked for me ...

I use MAC Blot Powder in Light. If you have light skin, don't let them sell you Medium. It turns orange on me ...

I love my MAC blot powder to death. Then again I have oily skin in the warmer months so I can't be caught without it. It's very light and sheer; it doesn't add more color to your complexion.

Powder, be it loose ( mostly preffered ) or pressed, its essential to set your foundation!

You try half of the face with the foundation with a thin layer of loose powder, and the other side with no powder. The powder side will last longer and it wont run or look blotchy.

Talk about blotchy, loose powder will help your blush look seamless, because there's a soft layer on the skin so the powder blush goes on smoothly and you can blend it before it absorbs on the skin, which is the problem with foundation with no powder, the skin will absorb it, and you'll have a patch of blush on your face.

Loose powder is fantastic in big amounts under the eyes, so if you do any kind of dramatic look, the eyeshadow will lay on top of the powder, not on the skin under your eyes, so its easy to remove dirt and even mascara boo boos.

i am converted! I have started using it now- but a question is it okay to use it over something like touche eclat?

i use loose powder .
Estee Lauder is a great one.

Great points!

I agree-- Powder definitely gives the face an airbrushed and seamless look that you can't get with creams!

In the T-zone in the summer definitely... loose powder.

Ale - is that true of tinted moisturizer as well? Should I be using powder all over the face to set that or no?
Great tip on the eye makeup

If you have oily skin, you have to wear powder. Who said it was passe? it IS a necessary makeup step.

Exactly! Nothing is less flattering than a shiny face, with or without makeup :(
