Do you buy shoes without wearing them afterwards?

I am guilty as charged! I HAD to have a pair or MJ pumps from eBay, but when they arrived in Australia, they were a size 40 and i'm a definate 41

I was supposed to resell them but never got around to it, so they're still in the box looking forlornly back at me...they have never been worn, poor lil guys!

Hmmmm I counted 7 pairs I have not worn even once out of the house - mostly I must admit sale purchases and heels
I counted 8 pairs I have only worn once or twice at most - mostly heels that are impractical for my day to day life - my Gina Silver Ritz not being the thing to take a toddler to the park in lol
I also have about 16 pairs that I have not worn in over 2 years as I had a second baby and my feet grew :( It is sooo sad - I have parted with over 20 pairs in the past couple of years due to this reason but my favourites I am having a hard time saying goodbye to. These are mostly my Prada's and Gucci's as they were my favorites in the early 2000's. I am thinking of having a display shelf put up in my bedroom so that I can admire them as art, but I also feel I should still keep them boxed and shoe bagged just incase I wake up one morning with smaller feet again

I have done this recently but I am working very hard to find a solution. I got a pair of cute shoes that have like a tan high heel and plaid (green, blue, purple, white) that comes across the toe and kind of knots on the top--they are a lot cuter than I am describing. They are hard to match because it is a plaid. But I think I may find something to wear them with tomorrow.

I don't have any I've never worn, but some worn only once or twice and then decommissioned so to speak. White Clergerie modish (or rather a little mod but not enough) flats, bally pumps that are sort of... baggy? miu miu go go girl-ish silver sandals with disks, a great idea but on one feels like a bad miami beach bling victim. sigh.

and then there's the ones that got away, shoes I wish I'd purchased at whatever cost... can't a little fairy come and take away the one's that didn't work out and replace with one's that got away????

Never ever! When I see a pair of shoes that I think I want, I make sure to wait a week to let the initial shoe lust wear off. If I still am thinking about them at the end of the week, and I'm still thinking of outfits I have that I can wear them with, then I know I really want them.

If I'm going to spend around 500.00 dollars (Manolo Blahnik) for a pair of shoes, I want to make sure beforehand I will wear them over and over and over!

For a long time, my YSL clogs stayed in my closet, on the “MUCH too expensive to wear everyday, they’ll look worn!” basis:o . But I realized that would go on forever if I didn’t do something about it, so I started wearing them anywhere, anytime.B) And they still look just as nice on the few occasions they’re on display in the closet!:D

For reasons unknown to even myself,I bought the most godawful Gucci mules at the beginning of summer. The heels are way to high to wear them and still be taken seriously.I forced myself to wear them once, but I felt so silly teetering around that it stayed at that. They are not European cobble stone friendly.I must post a pic sometime!!

I also have a WONDERFUL pair of mushroom satin pumps (Pedro Garcia) Which I haven't worn on the basis that they'll get dirty...but I think it's time they took their chances:)

I would love to see some pics on this thread!!!

I've had many an Ebay disaster as well. Not just sizing problems, also shoes that looked better in the pictures than in real life.

Or shoes that fitted so well in the store when walking around on lush carpet for 2 minutes but were a complete nightmare when pounding the streets during rush hour.

These are my latest "sale google" purchases that haven't been out of their box since I bought them in June. I know I will never wear them. Not a slingback OR pink gal, but OMG...they were Jimmy Choo current season on sale for less than half off! :woot: I finally got off my duff the other night and listed them on Ebay for less than I paid in hopes of someone else finding them to their liking. I've got several others that I need to do this with as well. I never do well on Ebay, so have been hesitant, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options. I have promised myself to be VERY picky with future purchases and make sure I LOVE them and not buy just because they are on sale.

Guilty. I have two pairs of black leather high heels in my closet that I've worn exactly twice. They're gorgeous shoes, but the heels are about two inches too high and I knew when I bought them (on sale..the biggest trap of all), I was wasting my time. I've since adopted the mantra "would I have bought them when they were full price?"

Live and learn.

This is the one that always gets me, especially at sales - how come something fits so much better when it's 50% off? But at least several pairs are now on their way to some New Orleans refugees.

Great tip! Thats what I do with handbags, only I wait it out for a couple months. I have saved tons of money doing this!

i do this quite often. especially if i see a pair of shoes on sale, or that are interesting in design and style.

i.e.: a pair of brown diesel shoes that were merely 40 dollars...seemed like a steal, but they didnt look decent when worn.
i still think they're pretty stellar though. maybe i'll whip them out when i feel daring, and confident.

I also plead guilty! I am a mum, do two school runs a day, yet only possess one pair of sensible flat shoes and they are only flip flops!! I do go out a fair bit, but it makes absolutely no sense that I only buy evening shoes when the majority of my day is spent running around :) I guess its the who wants to be sensible thing, and as I am only 5.2, I always like to wear a heel. On the plus side though, I am moving house shortly, and the amount of louboutins, choos and westwoods that I have not worn are obscene. I have listed them on ebay along with some designer clothes, and they are all selling. I think with the ebay thing, if you are willing to not start the bidding too high, you will get a seller, unfortunately for me though, I am already thinking in my warped mind, ohhhh well I have some more money that I was not expecting, what shoes should I buy next!!:innocent:

But the difference between me and you is that, I have absolutely no idea why I dont wear them!!!!!!!!

Ditto. The shoes I've had sitting in their box since last year are comfortable and go with anything [casual]! I just don't want to wear them.

I do this with clothes as well; I have clothes from a summer ago that are still in their bags with their tags on.

I think that I don't like to wear anything new without having changed [myself] completely (i.e: getting a new hairstyle, whitening my teeth, or even changing internally). If I'm still the same, then my clothes must be...

Or something strange like that. Does that make sense?

These are the ones i was talking about. They're on ebay now, but i don't wanna post the item number, i think it's against the rules :ninja:

Completely makes sense to me, some days I wake up and feel really good, but other days (you know the sort, the pre menstrual, feel 10 pounds heavier, and as bloated as a pot bellied pig type day ^_^ ) I think I am not GOOD enough to wear the clothes if that makes sense, almost as if I am not worthy of them, so I wear the not so good, high street clothes, that guess what, make me feel not so good  even though I know that wearing the great clothes would make me feel better! :D, how warped is that, its just a girl thing, we werent supposed to be born logical !!

I bought a pair of black ankle boots last winter, and I didn't really wear them. I'm sure I'll wear them more this winter, they just go better with my current style

All the time. Actually sometimes I'll buy the shoes first and then eventually build an outfit around them.

if i see a pair of shoes i like i go home and think should i really spend that much on them? after about a week of questioning myself i go and buy them its always the same story but i brought a pair of LV multi colour trainers last yr which i am still yet to wear but i thought if i dontt buy them i will regret it i am very much the type who will aswell! loll
