I have 50 individual hair extensions...all in the back of my hair...all hooked in with tiny little pinch rings, so you can barely feel them. They are supposed to last about 3-4 months, but I often start losing them after 1-2 months, even though I don't over-condition or tug at the hair. Any tips for keeping them in?

mine have never stayed 3-4months, but I've only had the binded ones (super uncomfortable!!) Usually I try to wrap my hair in a silk scarf when I sleep as well as use a silk/satin pillowcase. Wow...50 individuals that must have costed a lot..usually I only get around 5/6 funky colored pieces put in at $8/piece!! :D

I have the binded ones too. I was told that if I took care of them well (wash hair as minimally as I could and lots of conditioner) they'd last 2-3 months. Well I had to add more after only 1 month. It wasn't that extensions were falling out, but the hair was.

i have the bonded ones and the first few times i had them they only lasted like 2 months and started falling out and getting tangled within the first week ... i switched brands and im on my 3rd month and i only lost 1 ... but im gonna get them redone soon because the regrowth has gotten a little long and its starting to bother me.

Mine started to fall out too, although I kept picking at them

Where would you get something like that done? I know at my salon they do Great Lengths extensions. i have never heard of putting a few colored extensions in. i would love to do that? What do you ask for when calling around?

great lengths makes colored pieces ... just ask when theyre matching your hair. they should be able to order a few of whatever color you want, depending on how many bundles you purchase.

And then they would be approx. $8 an extension? I asked once about adding a few highlights in my hair and the stylist said there is not way to do that? I did not want them on top but a frw in my hair that were like a plat. blonde color.

usually they do the extensions on the bottom of your hair..underneath where you cannot see that they are hooked in. it adds length and fullness. i dont think you can do them as highlights b/c you cant do them at the top or the upper sides of your hair....where highlights would normally go.

Im interested in getting extensions..but I dont want my real hair to get damaged.
or fall out... Can anyone with them put me up on game?

I wouldn't recommend hair extensions. They damage your hair. Unless you are willing to spend a nice chunk of change to have them professionally put in AND professionally taken out.

i dont know what the price would be per extension ... as far as i know when dealing with great lengths you need to order a whole bundle. But they can def add whetever color you want. its not going to be done like highlights, because it will have to be low enough down so that there is hair to cover the bondings, but it looks cute. I always have then put a lighter brown in with the rest of my extensions in the winter to look like my hair has faded from the sun. If you go to a salon and just tell them what you want they should be able to work it out for you. There are tons of different brands of extensions that have tons of different colors ...so your options are pretty endless. good luck, and you can pm me if you have any more questions.

if you have the cash to spend then go for it. as long as the extensions are put in, taken out and cared for properly there will be no damage to your hair, but they can be quite pricey, depending on how many you want.
