I figured this belonged in this thread as it has to do with Body, but feel free to move it mods. :flower:

Does anyone else here surf? I just learned a year ago, and it's such an amazing sport! Really great for your body, but also your soul. I've only surfed in Hawaii (we have a timeshare on Kauai), but I'd like to try surfing in New Jersey this summer at my friend's beach house.

Anyways, I just wanted to see if there were any other surfers here! We can use this thread for motivation, tips, or just to tell great surfing stories we've had! B)

I've never surfed before but I'm going to Hawaii in January and I'm soooo excited! I've always wanted to learn how and maybe I'll get a cute surfer boy to show me how.

Awesome, I'm sure you'll have a great time! What island(s) are you going to?

I was surfing today!
I live in the South West of Ireland and go surfing in a small town called Castlegregory :D

I have been doing it for about 2 1/2 years.
Great exercise.

Pretty cold here though so I must always wear a winter wetsuit.

I love watching surfing on the tv but when I am in the sea, I am the person who panics if there is seaweed or the water isn't clear or my feet don't touch the bottom... I don't think it is the best sport for me

I don't surf, but surfing is huge where I live... especially amongst girls. Alot of my friends make money giving surf lessons.

I'm going to the island of oahu and I'll be staying in Honolulu.......I cannot tell you how excited I am!

i live in hawaii but dont surf as much as i'd like to. but it is great!

I love surfing!!!!
Im from Paris so I can't go surfing too often lol, but I have already been doing it in the southern France and in California! I just love it

ooh I used to!, I was a mediocre surfer who'd just fool around with tiny waves but it was awesome while it lasted.. some of my friends still do it full-time...rain or shine.. it's a very popular sport where I live, since there isn't much space or budget to push anything else and the ocean is free and right around the corner.

I stopped doing it about 4 years ago, we had some funny accident in Cabo and it wasn't very good for my back [I ended up having a back surgery!], I guess I could still go back to it.. but I also got drowned that day so I stayed on panic alert haha.. haven't swam in the beach ever since.. :ninja:

For those who live on the island of Oahu, are these any good surfing spots for beginners? I've heard about the North Shore and that is soooo not where I need to be. LOL

There are all kinds of waves on the North Shore - really big, medium, and even really small ones. I think you should check out the North Shore's smaller waves. ^_^ Maybe try taking a surfing class so you'll have someone who knows what they're doing watching you and making sure you're safe at all times?
