Dolce & Gabbana S/S 08 Milan

The dresses towards the end, the short poofy ones..look like something right out of a Heatherette show. :innocent: Sorrrry.

I'm happy that the last few major shows decided to come out with the colors. That whole "greige" thing that some people are so after is sickening. The sun shines! I wanna see colors out there, darnit!

am i the only one who hates this so far?

where's the sex and expensive glam that i've come to expect from dolce and gabbana?

this show is such a mess, it looks like vuitton mixed with miu miu and scraps from their previous collections. some of the cuts on the dresses are so similar to f/w 2007.

I always thought "Under my thumb" was by the rolling stones...
Anyhow, lots to like...but some to hate.
Those painted gowns are like a McQueen spatter experiment gone bad crossed with some cheesy roman couturier like Gattinoni...
All in all a slightly better effort than lately.

I don't like the excess tulle on everything. Again. I don't like the Miu Miu/Louis Vuitton/Prada rip-off accessories. I don't like the entire first half. I hate Dolce & Gabbana.

Pigs are flying...

However--and this is really surprising coming from me--the second half is GORGEOUS! I love the paint, I love the sheer, I love LOVE love the Galliano dresses!

It's like they combined YSL cruise '08 with Dior HC spring '06 with Lanvin spring '06 and took all of my favorite elements. God knows if it were societally acceptable, I'd wear a 15 foot diameter skirt everywhere.

So beautiful. I really like it. It's nice that this isn't another dominatrix collection! I especially like the whole section inbetween the neutral outfits in the beginning and the big outfits at the end...the brocade skirts, mixed with the paint splattered shirts and the patchwork bags with the python shoes, the mixture of patterns, texture and color is very Lacroix, but done in a Dolce & Gabbana way.

Best show of Milan...this and Versace...one of four shows I've really liked this season...out of what...hundreds! Paris better be good!

These are my favorite looks-

That's what I thought when I saw them. I like the sad, black widow Sicilian woman that Dolce did earlier in their career. There is just too much going on with this collection.

Wow i think i like this  however derivative it may be. Those tight fitting dresses are gorgeous. Definitely the most cohesive collection they've done for a while

I'm really taken by this. It's something they haven't done in a long time, not since the mid-90's really.

It's silly and joyful and fun and whimsical, those huge Marie Antoinette pouf gowns at the end look like they'd be the most fun thing to wear to an event. Yes they're messy looking, but that's part of the charm. There's something really girly about all of this, like playing dress up, and yet these clothes don't look like they're made for girls at all.

I also think they did some of the more believeable transparency that we've seen so far. The haindpainting that covered most of it and gave a peek here and there was smart.

Well no doubt about it, its beautiful! But Im too used to seeing this in Dior. I like this collection, its very cleverly constructed and very skillfull. Its one of those collection u look at and appreciate, even if u dont like it. But Galliano can kick this collections *** any day.

Simplicity was never their thing, and it shows not only in the pumped-up dresses in the finale how much they like to do 'over the top' ... there's a little too much baroque pattern work, too much paint-splatter, colour and texture going on in some of these looks - that is, for my personal taste.

that's the thing with them, they interpret their themes quite literally...and it's always right on trend (which makes it rather boring), paint splatter prints, transparent layering, a slight 70's edge...it ends up looking a tad kitchy

beautiful! i've never really been into D&G, but this collection is fabulous!!
