Donatella Versace - Chief Brand Ambassador of Versace

This made me sad (she served many iconic moments!), I hope she is okay... And that the new director does something good, which I don't think will happen.

I’m so shocked. That title is quite an insult to me. Going from creative director to brand ambassador, no matter how you try to frame it is a bit of an insult. I suppose that the budget they will give her will possibly change regarding the performance of the house.

I’m waiting for the American press to do a paper on this. I suspect that she was forced in order to proceed the sale and « sacrificed herself » for the well being of the company.

And for that show to be her last…Wow!

The end of an era. I remember watching her shows in the lates 90s and early to mid 00s and loving it. The sexiness and glamour that the brand had under her leadership was unmatched. The brand definitely struggled after the recession and the designs just weren't there. I'll miss the idea of Donatella at the brand, but not necessarily her design lead as the brand became so cheap. Dario had better dive deep into the archives and dazzle us. No intellectualism !!

I’m wondering/guessing that she has a clause of kind of non-aggression. If she is still on the company payroll (despite being a billionaire) I guess she won’t be able to say anything negative regarding the new creative direction.
Does anybody know how much she's actually worth? If you're still a billion dollars

who the hell is going to design greca jockstraps for the gays? this is SERIOUS

I always talk about her forgetting the real billionaire is Allegra. Donatella only owned 16%. But she is still rich. She is fine in terms of money.
No don’t know how much she is worth. But I guess she is worth enough to support her lifestyle.

Sad for her, but this is an example of leaving a party a little too late. She should have done what Dries did and worked out a graceful exit strategy when she sold her share to Michael Kors. She could have had the chance to choose her successor, plan a farewell tour, create a wonderful final collection, and retired with dignity (and a bunch of money). Now optically, it does look like they casted her out.

Sad for her because 1. That title is an insult. Basically telling us she’s on the payroll but won’t be doing anything. 2. She should have a proper last show. Greatest hits or whatsnot. She deserves that.
Maybe she will get a met gala. It deserved for sure

She could have had an exit à la Tom. Leaving the company all together and still have an influence. This new position doesn’t mean independence or influence.

And I wonder if she can create a foundation. I bet all the archives are owned by the company.

So she has a purely representative role.
