Donna Karan F/W 14.15 New York

(and the award for the tackiest hairdo goes to..)

These shades of red are gorgeous.

wow! what a powerful show for Donna Karan. she's giving me POWERFUL WOMAN all over the place. Hilary Rhoda looks like she could kick my ***. Adore the gown on Karlie and that whole red section. I can't wait to see this show in motion! KK closing in that sexy black outfit is Heaven!

I'm sorry, but I find most of this really ugly. With an exception of a few gowns, I'm getting a tacky Broadway show girl vibe from this collection (especially the first three looks :yuk:). Donna Karan collections are either a big hit or a big miss for me. This one is a major miss.

the gowns at the end are beautiful but everything else...i can never get on board with her silhouettes probably because i'm young but they just look so unflattering

It's so unexpectedly sl*tty? Feels more Tom Ford than Donna Karan at first glance. Not sure I like this, it's too aggressive, not really what I expect to see from her. She has let me down with both of her collections this season :ermm:

^ That's what I was thinking, i.e., that she's really "sexed" it up this time round ^_^, instead of her usual sophisticate urban working lady.

I like the belted silhouettes and the emphasis on the waist, as well as the rich hues; plus, some of the jackets (the high necked ones) and burnout gowns are gorgeous.

But there's a little too much sheerness and the styling is harsh overall.

The coats. Damn, she cuts and wraps a mean coat. Digging the drama here with the decadence, and even shades of 1990-Claude Montana silhouette. And that black-and-gold basket-weave coatdress is pure champagne-and-opium decadence; I can just envision that woman wearing this in her shimmering black-lacquered penthouse... Wished there were more of those.

It's always great to see veterans like Donna swerving to the left to shake her branding up on the runway, even if the overall presentation feels a tad like a crash.
