I found a little article about Doutzen cause of the Forbes-list. It was in Dutch so I've transilated it for the non-Dutchies.
Doutzen Kroes (22) behoort volgens Vogue tot de nieuwe generatie supermodellen. Vorige week werd ze door het blad Forbes opgenomen in de lijst van rijkste modellen. Volgens Forbes verdiende Doutzen de afgelopen twaalf maanden maar liefst 1,5 miljoen dollar, een bedrag dat haar een veertiende plek op de lijst opleverde. "Weet je, ik heb nog helemaal niet bekeken hoe dat zit met die lijst. Ik hoorde er wel iets over...", reageert het model.
Ze heeft het namelijk druk. Zó druk zelfs dat ze even moet worden bijgepraat over wat dat nou precies is, die Forbes-lijst van best betaalde modellen. De lijst wordt aangevoerd door topmodel Gisele Bündschen, die het afgelopen jaar 33 miljoen dollar verdiende. Het feit dat Doutzen op nummer veertien staat, vindt ze ‘geweldig!’ Ze klinkt oprecht enthousiast.
Maar dan ook: "Ja, wel heel gek hoor, dat mijn naam daar tussen staat. Zoiets voel je niet echt. Als ik in de spiegel kijk, zie ik nog precies dezelfde persoon als eergisteren, toen ik nog niet op die lijst stond."
Ze grinnikt even. "En weet je waarom ik het ook niet echt doorheb? Ik heb helemaal geen tijd gehad om geld uit te geven."
Doutzen, opgegroeid in het Friese Oostermeer en tegenwoordig woonachtig in New York, zit in haar laatste werkdagen voor de vakantie. Nog eventjes in New York, dan weer lekker uitblazen op de Friese geboortegrond. Haar rijbewijs halen. En op vakantie, met haar twee beste vriendinnen en met zus Rens.
Maar wie verwacht dat het model met haar miljoen lekker decadent in een luxe vakantieoord cocktailtjes gaat drinken, heeft het mis. "We gaan backpacken in Thailand", vertelt ze. "Ik heb de laatste anderhalf jaar alleen maar first class gevlogen, nu gaan we gewoon economy. Ik wil blijven genieten van de kleine dingen."
Helemaal wars van het glamourleven is het model toch ook weer niet. Ze was ‘ontzettend dankbaar’ dat haar werkgever L’Oréal haar meenam naar het filmfestival in Cannes. "Loop ik daar over de rode loper, schreeuwen al die fotografen mijn naam, alsof ik een filmster ben."
Nog altijd is ze er niet aan gewend dat die naam en haar gezicht steeds bekender worden. Al stond ze de afgelopen drie maanden achtereen in de Amerikaanse Vogue. Nuchter zegt ze daarover: "Ja, het gaat super. Ik ben echt heel blij met al die opdrachten. Bij Vogue kom je er moeilijk tussen in het begin, maar nu het contact eenmaal goed loopt, zijn de mensen daar als familie voor me." In de wereldberoemde celebrityfotograaf Mario Testino heeft ze een fan. Hij zegt over Doutzen: "Ik kon me niet voorstellen dat iemand die zó mooi is, ook nog een cool girl is." Toch valt het keiharde werken haar soms zwaar. "Een tijdje geleden had ik het echt moeilijk. Tot aan het punt dat ik me begon af te vragen of ik dit nog wel kon volhouden. Maar ik geloof dat je in het leven krijgt waar je om vraagt."

Doutzen is been busy lately. She’s been so busy that she has to catch up about the Forbes-list, what it is and all. Gisele Bundchen is the number one of last years supermodels with 33 million dollar last year. Doutzen is really pleased with her 14th place on the list. She sounds sincere enthusiastic. On the other hand: ‘It’s kind of strange to find my name on the list. I did not really had an idea of it… When I look in a mirror I do not feel of see myself in a different way that a couple of days ago when I wasn’t on the list yet.” She giggles: “One of the main reasons I’m overwhelmed by the news is cause I do not have the time to spent my money.” Doutzen grow up in Eastermar but nowadays she’s living in New York. Into a couple of days she can celebrate her holidays and relax in her Frisian hometown and try to get her driving licence. After that she’s going on vacation with her two best friends and her sister Rens. So now she can spent her money in a luxurious resort and ordering cocktails.. wrong! “We are going to backpack in Thailand”, she says. ‘I’ve travelled for more that a year only first class but now there flying economy. I want to get pleased by the smallest things. But she’s not against her Glamour life of course. She was very pleased when L’oreal sent her to the film festival of Cannes. “I walked at the red-carpet and all the photographers where shouting my name, like I’m a famous movie star.” She’s still not very used to people who recognize her, but her face and name are getting more known than ever. She was last three months in a row in US Vogue. She’s very down to earth about it: “Yes, thing are going very well. I’m so happy by the jobs I’m getting. It’s very hard to get a place in US Vogue but now where having a great contact and the Vogue team is really like family for me.” World-famous celebrity photographer Mario Testino is a fan of Doutzen. Mario about Doutzen: “I never could imagine a girl that’s so pretty, can also be a cool girl.” Sometimes Doutzen is struggling with the hard work: “Some time ago I had a rough time dealing with it. The Pirelli calendar is supposed to be sexy!Pictures can also be sexy with clothes on... But Pirelli and nudity are going hand in hand though.
