What I love about Dries is that while his collections are very sophisticated, they always feel effortless. This looks like he's trying to cater to someone. Perhaps he tried to emulate the Lacroix collab for his menswear? But yes, this could be DSquared2...
Shockingly bad collection from him, really puzzling stuff specially coming off that fashion heaven that was the last women's show. It all looks messy and sloppy, some looks with this tacky "straight dude" kind of attitude that is the complete opposite of what we expect from Dries.
Weird season this one: both Rick Owens and Dries, two favorites of mine, delivered very poor collections, whereas JWA and Virgil at LV, towards whom I am usually cold, finally hit the right note.
I feel like the world is turning upside down...
It might be the styling that make this collection very DSquared2. But the casting feel mismatched to the clothes. Some of the colors use does remind me of Dries but it's quite messy.
Ugh, I'm glad it's not just me. I went through the collection yesterday after the show and when I finished I realized that I hadn't screenshot a single look that I like. Not one outfit seems truly desirable to me.
The styling is a mess and I feel like he tried to emulate the feeling of creative expression of his Lacroix collection. The collection is a mess but the individual pieces are fine. The faithful Dries customer who goes to his own store will find something to like in this. There’s a familiarity...
The spring collection was beautifully styled so all the craziest pieces or at least, the most daring, looked perfect because the outfits were beautifully assembled. This is harder to process.
I kinda like that Dries can make me have this kind of feeling. It’s uncomfortable and Dries is the kind of « immediate love » designer.
It’s easier for me, I’m not a man I don’t have to imagine this on me to like it...
But those platform boots are hideous.
I am so disappointed in this. Dries has been one of my favourite designers to wear and this makes me sad as I can't really find one thing I want to wear. The last women's collection was stunning and so I had my hopes up high that we'd get something stunning like that for men, but this misses the mark completely !
I agree with those above that hinted that when Dries' work looks like somebody else's it signals trouble in the industry, as he has consistently shown collections that were distinctive and had instant designer recognition. Mordre la poussière.
