thought btw this was really WRONG:
most iconic dutch models of the last 10 years:
MarieClaireNL_March2010_Alique.jpg

From left to right: Sylvia van der Klooster, Doutzen Kroes, Cato van Ee, Linda Spiering, Nimue Smit, Dewi Driegen, Marpessa Hennink, Kim Noorda, Yfke Sturm and Frederique van der Wal

I mean, who has ever heard of Sylvia van der Klooster, Marpessa Hennink and Linda Spiering?
well if these are the most iconic models of the last 10 years, then WHERE is Lara? Bette? Rianne? Ymre? Sophie? Iekeliene? Patricia? i was especially pissed about Lara, i mean she's so iconic ATM!

ms granlund is right, lara isn't shooting for non a class magazines like Marie Claire....

You don't who Linda Spierings is? Are you kidding? She was one the biggest models of the 80's. She worked with Avedon. US and UK covers and was the muse of Alaia. To name only a few things. Sylvia and Marpessa have been important models as well.

^Amen.
That post sounded pretty ignorant. Marpessa even to this day is considered one of the best runway walkers ever. She's known as "The Catwalk Contessa"...and coincidentally today she's walking in Naomi Campbell's Haiti Relief show in London.

Maybe I should ask, who has ever heard of Rianne? Ymre? Iekeliene etc?
Outside of tfs, and other than people who closely follow the fashion scene, nobody knows who these girls are.

yes I'd like add Sylvia van der Klooster was a muse to Dolce & Gabbana for many years...

if you'd like to question the importance of the models of the cover, why not start with Cato..

^Exactly...she's the only misplaced girl on that cover. Even Kim and Yfke are more justifiable in that line-up. Marpessa and Linda are icons and Sylvia was HUGE at the turn of the century. I think it's a good line-up...Lara and Karen (HELLO!) are missing, but understand why.

If a magazine were to do a cover with all current Dutch girls, that cover would be packed with girls...love it

I think someone like Esther de Jong wouldn't have been out of place either on the cover.

Agreed...maybe even Lonneke Engel. I also would love to have seen Querelle  But that's just my personal desire....

brilliant new face from Amsterdam. Melissa Tamarijn, Calvin Klein Fall 2010/11 exclusive!

 She's stunning...
Gwen Loos was an exclusive as well!

Oh Querelle, I feel like she is one the greatest unsung heroes of (Dutch) modeling. Even I forget sometimes she is Dutch, all thanks to Pop, who said she was Danish when they introduced her in their a/w 03 issue.
Querelle did it all. Worked with Meisel, Testino, Lindbergh, Sims, Klein, Demarchelier, Sorrenti, Roversi, Sunsbo, I&V, Weber, M&M... Worked for all the big magazines like UK Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, Harper's Bazaar, W, Numero, Pop, Another Mag... Did campaigns for Prada, Miu Miu, Allesandro Dell'Aqua, Hugo Boss, DKNY, Marc by Marc Jacobs... She was even the inspiration behind the LV s/s 05 collection! Not many girls can say they achieved all that.

I know  Whatever happened to her? She started becoming a Gaultier regular and then suddenly she disappeared...

I read somewhere in her thread she decided to retire from international modeling to focus on school. As far as I know she only does the occasional ed for Dutch publications.

ofcourse i've heard of Sylvia van der Klooster, Marpessa Hennink and Linda Spierings. but i mean people all around dont - i guess- because they aren't the most well known ones.

models like Ymre Stiekema (quite famous here since she won a dutch award show) and Patricia van der Vliet (was in HNTM so everyone knows her?) or even Frederique van der Wal are more known as Marpessa and Linda. if it's about the 'people should know then' thing.

understand they couldn't get Lara :P! but then they shouldn't have used the titel the 10 most iconic dutch models of the last century.
but yeah after all. it would've been better if they had introduced the new more unknown dutch models as Gwen Loos, Mirte Maas etc...

About Querelle Jansen i so agree! she was even re-named by a designer (forgot who it was again) because her actual name is Lisanne.

Yeah, Querelle left the modelling world. Probably because it didn't felt like her world and found other things more important. Good for her.
