A $25,000 LEG UP: Ecco Domani wines, through its Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation, awarded six designers grants of $25,000 to help them show collections during the New York fall fashion shows in February. This year’s winners are — envelope, please — Thakoon, Costello/Tagliapietra, Jasmin Shokrian, Mary Ping and Richard Chai in women’s design and Trovata in men’s design. Previous winners include Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler and Peter Som.

Well I'm happy for Thakoon. Although he's probably connected enough in the fashion scene he doesn't need the money, no?

I could only pull up the S/S 04 looks. It doesn't look brilliant design wise, but it does look incredibly wearable and sellable.

Well,Tess Giberson has won this award as well. Same year as Zac Posen,in fact. I think the foundation is pretty respectable to talent as they give it to those that are both more connected to the scene AND those that are more obscure. I mean,Tess only had the one collection when she got it and Zac was all the fuss that year at the same token.
