Doo.Ri S/S 06 New York

Not bad, I dig the shapes of her clothing as always though the colors do put me to sleep at times.

i like the draping. espcially in that dress that michelle buswell is wearing

Sweet - Light - Pretty - some pieces even angelic ..blendable pieces ..lovely but I reserve my  for her fw05 collection.

Doo.Ri Chung, Where Style Meets Substance By Lauren David Peden September 12, 2005 - New York Doo.Ri Chung approaches fabric the way a sculptor approaches clay. In the case of other textile-loving designers (*cough* As Four *cough*), this approach usually results in creations where function lags behind form in a big bad way. (Is that a blouse or a tea cozy?) Chung, however, is as much a pragmatist as she is an artist, so all her draping, stitching and fabric manipulation adds up to clothes that are as wearable as they are architectural. It’s this creativecommercial dualism that has made her a media and retail darling, and the unveiling of her Spring 2006 collection Sunday afternoon at Bryant Park’s UPS Hub will only serve to push her further into the style spotlight - and deservedly so. In addition to the draped jersey garments for which she has become known - here, a gown embellished with a built-in Swarovski crystal bra, a top sprinkled with sparkles (which felt fresh rather than redundant) and a dress with a chain of stones encircling the wearer’s hips, Salome-style - Chung got creative with chiffon, as well. Where other designers might be content to work with a fabric as-is, Chung takes a more dictatorial approach, stitching, quilting and cutting until the formerly fluttery textile is born anew. A peach chiffon jacket was defined by concentric quilted circles that added heft and definition throughout the shoulder, while still remaining delicate. An ivory bolero was fashioned from diagonally stitched chiffon so it was both soft (Chung left the edges unfinished so they fluttered fetchingly) and structured. And many of the tops and jackets were paired with white, wide-legged pants, ushering in a new era Doo.Ri Chung day wear - aimed at giving her clients some 9-to-5 options along with her usual evening looks. There was even a saddle-hued leather swing jacket with brass studs defining the pleats. The majority of the collection fell into the beige/ecru/ivory palette we’ve been seeing so much of this week. But while Chung had jokingly told FWD that she thought of this as her “Pantyhose Collection” due to the preponderance of flesh tones she chose, her sophisticated, artistic aesthetic is way more Wolford than L’eggs.

I loooove Doo.Ri she is really making a serious impression in fashion, hopefully she'll explode and become the in-demand designer she deserves to be.

I agree . Exactly what I would say.

This is a beautiful and wearable collection that highlights the dominant themes in NY: fluidity, neutrality, and elegance... But I think it would've benefitted hugely from better editing, since the colors are intentionally dull.

They are repeating it to death:P

i very much like. it's easy to imagine how they would feel on the body. and the color reminds me of sand dunes.

paired with ocean, sky and grass colors - maybe even oranges, like sunsets -

can you see it?
