It looks like we can finally forget about getting on track with this whole pesky curbside recycling thing.
Now, thanks to Calgary's own internationally recognized fashion designer Paul Hardy, we can wear the contents of our recycling bins instead.
There were more than a few oohs and ahhs at yesterday's Green To The Core fashion show at the Eaton Centre -- a lunch-time spectacle of earth-friendly fashion designed to promote enviro-initiatives in our city and raise awareness about Alberta's Bow Riverkeeper organization.
Some of Hardy's 'Eco-Couture' seen on the runway included a gown made entirely of paint-can lids, and a little 'black-gold' dress made out of kitchen and garden compostables -- complete with a hemline of coffee filters and a corset of shrubbery.
While these one-offs won't be found on a rack near you anytime soon, many other eco-ensembles seen on the runway from retailers including Banana Republic and Roots are on shelves now.
If you haven't yet caught on to the season's hottest trend of eco-friendly organic fibres and soft earth-tone fabrics, you might as well still be trashing your pop cans.
Go get some Green.
