Her head looks awfully square...
She could have cut her hair immediately, but she decided to wait a bit. “It didn’t feel right then; I needed a break.”
“It was weird. My hairdresser was like, ‘When are you going to freak out?’ Most people cry or go into shock,’” she says. “But I was very calm. I knew it was the right thing.”
“I went to the salon alone and I left alone,” she says. “I knew everyone was going to have an opinion, and I couldn’t deal with it. I have to get myself into a good place to deal with people saying things like, ‘It’s terrible! She looks like a boy!’” Says the actress, laughing, “My dad already said that to me, actually. He said, ‘You’re not Audrey Hepburn yet, darling.’”
“He’s like that. I think the best I’ve ever had out of him was before a premiere when he said I ‘scrub up alright.’ When people ask me how I keep myself grounded, there’s the answer.”

in that second picture she looks like Hilary Swank in "Boys don't cry"
Honestly, the last thing I would ever say about this haircut is that it makes her look like a boy.
To me this is the most fantastic and inspirational thing she could have done. It shows that she doesn't define her sexuality, her womanhood, and her femininity by the traditional standards that haunt this society ("In order to be a woman you MUST have long hair!"). To me, this haircut made her go from being a traditional teenage girl to a woman; a strong, brave, powerful, intelligent woman. I have never seen her look more beautiful and more like a woman in the 10 years she has been in the spotlight. She exudes strength and character now like I have never seen from her before.
So in other words, I ****ing love it.
although i still don't love the short hair i have to fully agree with everyone who said that it was a brave move and i honestly have a new respect for her, i doubt i'd have the guts to cut my hair this short and i'm not even a public figure where every little nobody will express their opinion. i also like that she cut it because she wanted it (as opposed to cutting it for a movie part) that's why i'm starting to love it, it's not a style i prefer on her but it when she feels great and liberated...what's to hate? it's just hair and it shows she's not as shallow as many other girls who grow up in Hollywood who have a shoot with Maxim or Playboy to show they're women now and not the little child actor.

and second like i quoted Emma: she wanted it and feels it's something liberating..and third: calling it hideous appears very strange to me: i don't know if people are simply overreacting or really that much ignorant...
