I'm just wondering how old she is.

A few weeks ago, I found an old issue of '20 Ans' for which she styled an editorial , I'm guessing it was one of her first jobs, because the issue was from... 1989.I browsed a lot of back issues of '20 Ans' and realized that she worked for them from 1989 until 1997 (but regularly from 1993 until 1997).She probably met Claire Delhens back then via '20 Ans' since she styled several editorials in which Claire features as a model.

I just realized how many young upcoming stars '20 Ans' has featured in their pages : Ghesquiere (who featured as a model for them in 1996),Marine Delterme,Maiwenn LeBesco, Milla Jovovich, Roland Mouret (who styled an editorial for them in 1988).

P.S : Just in case someone asks, I don't have a scanner.I'll do my best to scan them whenever I can.

i don't know what did Ghesquière in 20 ans as a model...
but I can tell for sure that 20 ans is (or used to be) a very friendly magazine...
a lot of guys and girls you saw in 20ans (not talking about the editorials models) were just some friends of the journalists etc.
it's kind of the same for the "questions trottoirs"... most of them are fake... they just are friends with some journalists or people working there....

i'm kind of impressed by E.Alt longetivity...

She must be 40....
my guess : was intern at 18... really worked by 20-22... and now... she's by 40, i guess...

Isabelle Peyrut was one of their main fashion editors too.
I guess that '20 Ans' appeared in the business as a good starting point for models and upcomers to make their way in their career.The first time I saw Jessica Miller, Ciara Nuggent was in '20 ans'.They were quite good at spotting the new talents I guess.If I'm not mistaken M-A Sauve worked in some editorials for '20 ans' , I always assumed that she got in contact with Ghesquiere via '20 ans'.

The earliest work I found of Emmanuelle Alt as an editor was from 1989, I never found her name mentioned as an assistant for them, even before 1989.

On the other hand,Anastasia Barbieri always worked with Emmanuelle Alt as an assistant during the 90's for '20 ans' on a regular basis.

Claire Delhens started her career as an editor on Vogue only, but she only worked with Emmanuelle Alt as a model on '20 ans'.

How ironic...I've just received an old issue of 'Self-Service'.And guess who's mentioned and interviewed briefly ? La Alt.And she actually is 40 now.

Trivias : her favourite book is 'Raised by the Wolves' by Jim Goldberg (back in 1996, it might have changed). She's a huge fan of 'Saturday Night Fever' , and obsessed with the 1965-1975 era.

Speaking of '20 ans', the list goes on : Nathaniel Goldberg started at '20 Ans' too.

I used to go gaga over it when I was a teenager.Now, I do have a certain distance to it , and looking back at some of their issues, it wasn't as good as I thought it was comparing to other fashion editorial work but it really was my introduction to the world of fashion and mostly it was the main reference of my adolescence as a whole.The young girls presented in it were who I wanted to be back then.That's why I tend to be strongly attached to Emmanuelle Alt's work,because it is linked to my own personal story and evolution (in a subtle way), she really was the emblematic figure of my adolescence.I guess that a lot of people used to look at me with a certain condescendancy back then when they heard about my obsession over it.I also can imagine that a lot of people here who are familiar with her work at Vogue will probably be disappointed with what she had done there and then , because the production team and the people she worked with didn't have the means that she has access to now.

However, I think it has a certain value and a certain interest to notice the evolution of her main references and recurring influences (jeans, androgynous silhouettes, the sixties...)

Last '20 ans' reference, la Roitfeld appeared there too for a birthday issue.

i'm not a girl so never get dressed with skirts and high heels but as a feminine look lover, i also used to look at 20 ans...
and yes it wasn't Vogue or L'Officiel but it was something for young girls...

Not exactly, '20 ans' 's main target was the late teenagers (as in 15/22), whereas Jalouse's target are a little older (although I reckon that lately, they've been more interested in the younger ones mainly because of the mediatic exposure of younger Hollywood stars), but the caustic tone and their interest in uprising stars and strong visuals are common to both of them.I have to say that '20 Ans' was more inspiring fashion wise than 'Jalouse' was even during their earlier years.The other thing being that 'Jalouse''s strong points are their focuse on cultural events whereas '20 ans' was more focused on personal life issues or articles.

However, I like the fact that both Isabelle Peyrut and Emmanuelle Alt were the only two fashion editors' names I knew by the end of the nineties before both of them moved on to better things.Isabelle Peyrut and her were the E.Alt and C.Roitfeld of '20 ans' and worked during the same years.

his father is Franck Durand. He used to work at Katie barker agency. he is in the industry but I cannot rember where he is now !

I have read, recently, that she is 49, 50 and 54!


...and i found the '20 ans' photos posted much earlier - i enjoyed looking at them. really charming... it's cool to see how her style has evolved.
