I wasn't sure if this goes here, or if there is already a thread. If I've made a mistake, please forgive me

I've heard there are yoga poses you can do to make you grow just an inch or so taller. I've been very interested in this for a while now, and I can't seem to find the exact pose descriptions on the internet. Can anyone tell me please?

Also, does Yoga actually make you grow 1 or so inches taller, or does it just make you feel taller? I've heard both sides of the story, and I'm not sure..

Nothing will make you grow taller except genes and a proper diet (when you're a child/young teenager).
However, yoga might improve your posture and make you appear taller because of that.

this sounds really interesting! I'd love it if i could grow and inch.

You won't grow an inch. You won't grow any - well not because of the yoga anyways. Just work on your posture so you slouch as little as possible.

Human Growth Hormones can help you grow taller if your growth plates haven't closed.

hmm... very scientific. So is there a way to have your body produce more growth hormones?

What does that diet look like? I'd love to get further information on that...

It's not a special diet with any particular foods. Just a well balanced one with all the nutrients you need to reach your own potential. All I meant was that if you don't get your nutrients while in the growing years your growth will be stunted. So just make sure you get all your vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, etc.
I grew up drinking a lot of milk and didn't have a lot of pop around. My family is Hungarian so we ate a lot of meat. Beef, chicken, pork, etc so I got all my protein. It's not for everyone though, some people are scared of red meat and pork. I also ate lots of fruits and veggies.
I didn't get fat cause I played every sports imaginable at school and was always in shape - even eating bacon everyday!! yikes! :D I don't do that anymore...

does anyone know how to grow taller after puberty. i'm 20 and 5'5" and i'd LOVE to be at least 5'9". i've heard that a traditional chinese herb called "ground root" is supposed to make you taller, but i can't find anything about it on google.

Hmmm I think it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to grow 4 inches at your age especially as a female. But it is conceivable that you could grow some more, especially if you were a later bloomer. Mainly you just need to be healthy, eat well, exercise, and get lots of sleep. From what I've heard sleep has a lot to do with growth. And perhaps drink a lot of milk too...the Dutch are the world's tallest people and supposedly they drink a lot of milk. It's worth a shot, right?

If you've been doing all of these things since you were a teenager, though, and your growth has tapered off, it's probably unlikely that you will grow much more.

I haven't heard of that Chinese herb, sorry...maybe you can ask a Chinese doc or acupuncturist is or something.

Oh, and even if you're not growing any more, flexibility and good posture can help you gain another inch.

Some people who do pilates say it can make you appear an inch taller because it elongates your muscles.

I am definitely a big believer in nutrition for growth, but I think it applies more toward puberty. I had an eating from age 12-16 and am convinced that I am petite now because of it. My sister, who ate normally, is younger and about 4 inches taller than me. If nothing else, in your 20s you can eat well to help prevent shrinking later!

It's possible, but 4 inches seems a bit unlikely.
My mom grew one inch when she was twenty. (now she's a whopping 5'1"! :P)

I stopped growing at age 12 (hit puberty early.), but I also grew an inch when I was 15.

Flexibilty, good health, and stretching excercises like yoga or pilates are fantastic. They improve your posture which gives you about an inch of height. (it's an inch you would have already had, but poor posture hides it.)

Stand up straight! You'll be taller!

Unless u consider a surergy,u can even grow 5-7inchs depending of how much time you keep the material used by this procedure: they cut the bone, and let it to increase. This surergy is now used a lot especially in China, but also in France and Russia,I know ,it's crazy, but sometimes, some people are not affraid to go cut and knife,to fit to the standards of "Beauty",but it exists, and it's a part of the new plastic surergy.

There's some medecines and herbs, but I am not sure if they are safe.

Whoa, creepy. I've been tall all my life. I was like 5'7 in the fifth grade and I'm like at a permanant 5/10 now.

I don't think there's a lot you can do about it, unfortunately. For the most part, it's really genetics. If at least one of your parents (or perhaps grandparents and such) are really tall then you're bound to get some of that height naturally. If not then...too bad. I should know because I'm only 5'3 and it really does run in our family's gene...unfortunately (for me). =|

I think that nutrition and excercise are the main things you can keep up with. I found that swimming is good for height increase, as it's the only sport that excercises your whole body. Everyone on the swim team at school is TALL. I'm not very good at swimming, but running and basketball are good too.

as ppl have mentioned before, sleep helps
when you sleep, there are certain enzymes and repressors that are turned off. one of these repressors is the one that suppresses the growth hormone. if you know how sleep works, there's a 90 minute cycle that repeats until you wake up. I believe that the growth repressor is turned off during stage 4, which unfortunately overall gets the least amount of time. you have to sleep deeply to reach this stage.
oh, i also heard spinach helps you grow? don't know if this is true
yoga helps too, i think. i pretty much stopped growing at 14, but i started doing yoga at 16 and grew about an inch

"Can't you just be happy with your height? It's a great height to be, much better than being tall."

^ ...newp. mostly because i'm 20 and i look like i'm about 16 (natalia vodianova style) and i find that when i wear my tall heels that look like sandals under long jeans, people instantly think i'm older and give me more respect as a person. and besides that, i'd like to be on the same face to face level with people when i talk to them. the shortest of my friends is 5'10. when you're smaller, people regard you as a child rather than an adult, cute instead of sexy, blah blah blah.
