Erin Wasson

a lot of the stuff with the interview i agree with - like the whole 'edited' look but at the same time she does look like she tries too hard.

What is it with the city's beautiful blond women and crawling up in to trees? Interview magazine listens to local resident/model Erin Wasson, founder of skate/surf brand Erin Wasson x RVCA, talk about living in a 900-square-foot tree house in Venice, a residence that also has a skate ramp.

“I moved into this house in Venice Beach six years ago. I’m in New York more, but I try to come back to L.A. pretty often. The house is only about 900 square feet, but the best part is the big backyard. I always had a fantasy, growing up in Texas, of having my own skate ramp, but we never had enough space at my family’s house. Now the backyard’s awesome. We put in the half-pipethe summer I moved in. There was a small skate shop down the road, and a lot of the boys who worked there would come over and sit around and work on it slowly. One day it was done. Now tons of people from the neighborhood come by. We fire up the grill and everybody hangs out and skates. Then there’s my tree house. It’s got sliding glass windows, it’s fully insulated, and there’s electricity. We wanted to make sure that the house didn’t harm the trees in any way, so it’s naturally suspended. There are no nails in the tree at all. I didn’t think in a million years the tree house was going to turn out as nicely as it has. It’s super-comfortable, really cozy. I go up there in the afternoons to do work. At night, when I’m standing in my backyard and have the bonfire going, I think, ‘Wow. This is really my own little sanctuary.’”

Inspired by Erin Wasson's place? WikiHow provides a "how-to" manual for building a half-pipe and tree house.

this is the best thing i have ever seen! thank you for posting!

Erin is interviewed in the latest Plastique magazine. It is on her website, but I cannot enlarge it to read. Anyone???????

^ I didn't even realise she had a website! I don't think you are able to enlarge it. Maybe request a scan in the Plastique #4 ss09 thread?

her tree house is awesome! I wanna stop by and skate on the halfpipe... i had no idea her venice beach house was like that!

Erin Wasson is Editing Herself

Even if you’re not in LA, you probably heard about Erin Wasson’s garage sale, where she practically emptied out her closet and sold her Wang and Balenciaga (among others) for $100 per piece.

It sounded fun, it benefited charity, but many wondered aloud why you would clear your closet so ruthlessly (the last time we tried this, we ended up with a Hefty bag full of Urban Outfitters from high school, which we’re pretty sure nobody was willing to buy) when your average dress comes from Fendi instead of Forever. Turns out, there was a real reason behind it:
In this weekend’s
Guardian, Erin described her dream closet, “a rolling rack and it’s like your four T-shirts, your five dresses, your two pairs of jeans,” which Erin considers to be “very Japanese” and a more “utilitarian” approach than what she had pre-sale.

So there you have it. The next time you see Erin in a party dress, you might be able to talk her into giving it to you in exchange for a donation. Just start the conversation with konnichiwa.

^I can't stand fashionista.com. Why do they insist on dumbing everything down??
Erin tries to sell some things she no longer wants and they try and make her sound crazy!
