It is with sincere and great pleasure that we present Insider’s Picks, featuring a few of the favorite things of supermodel and stylist, Erin Wasson. We’ve watched Wasson for ages, appreciating her unexpected choices (like dunks on the red carpet, which isn’t an everyday sight) and have always responded to her taste. Even a casual observer can tell that Wasson is an enthusiastic participant in the fashion world and that she has a unique, wholly personal way of putting herself together.

It is this panache that lead Wasson to her most recent gig—styling shows for the very buzzy designer, Alexander Wang. The Wang-and-Wasson collaboration developed organically, the two are building-mates and struck up a neighborly friendship in their shared elevator. [Read all about it in the November issue of Vogue in “She’s So My Style.”] They also have similar sensibilities; as Wasson puts it, “We share the same brain when it comes to what we think looks sexy on women.” The results of their aesthetic comradeship were very cool, so naturally everyone’s looking forward to seeing what they come up with for Fall 08. Until then, we’ll enjoy Wasson’s selections for today’s story...

1. Scout Waistband Minidress ($184)
“I’m crazy about everything from the spring collection of Scout’s in-house line [For the non-locals, Scout is a beloved LA boutique]. I love this dress and the three-quarter length sleeve dress [Grey Big Tee ($184)] is perfect for night. I’d wear them with some fishnets and these fantastic Canadian army boots I have. They’ve got a super round toe and look very Ann Demeulemeester, but they were only $5 at a flea market!”

2. Alexander Wang’s Spring 08 Collection
“I’ve been a fan of Alex’s stuff since he was just doing a knitwear line and he’s just the coolest guy ever, so it was amazing to work with him and style his spring show. We had the same instincts for the clothes, which was to put them together in ways that downtown New York girls would actually wear them on the street.” Erin also adores the Tuxedo Tunic Dress from Alexander Wang’s resort collection, which will be hitting stores soon. Check his website for shipment details!

3. Lucinda Williams Albums (Essence, $9.49; Live At The Filmore, $18.49)
“I love all of Lucinda Williams’ albums. She’s just so cool, rocking a leather jacket and faded jeans. Her song “Concrete and Barbed Wire” is phenomenal.”

4. Burfitt Tee (about $140) and Skirt (about $430)
“The tees from Burfitt are great; they’re long and oversized and sort of sheer, but not too sheer. [The designs are based on Lovisa Burfitt’s original illustrations.] I like to wear the tees with a tight black skirt.” A select number of stores in the US carry Burfitt, like Opening Ceremony and Creatures of Comfort. Check Burfitt's website for stockist information.

5. Hat Attack Fedora in Chocolate ($120)
“I have crazy curly hair, so I have lots of hats. Right now I’m wearing this brown fedora with a medium brim that I got at Hat Attack in New York.”

6. Grey Ant Sunglasses ($258)
“They’re like Wayfarers on steroids!”

7. Balmain Studded Boots
“They sent me a pair from Fall 07 runway, I feel so lucky to have them! They’ve got this high-heeled wedge, so they’re perfect for going out.”

8. Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara
show
($4.82)
“I'm a huge fan of Full 'N Soft, it's truly amazing. It makes your lashes look thick but natural, so it’s perfect for everyday wear.”
