NEW YORK Feb 17, 2006 (AP)— The new James Bond now has his Bond Girl.

Eva Green, whose screen credits include Bernardo Bertolucci's erotic drama "The Dreamers," will co-star as the enticing Vesper Lynd in "Casino Royale" opposite Daniel Craig.

Craig is making his debut appearance as Bond in the film.

"Eva is one of France's most accomplished young actresses, now receiving international acclaim," producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said Thursday in a statement. "She brings to the complex role of Vesper an exciting combination of enigmatic and seductive beauty."

Danish-born actor Mads Mikkelsen will play Le Chiffre, Bond's nemesis, and Jeffrey Wright ("Syriana," "Basquiat") has joined the cast as Felix Leiter.

Directed by Martin Campbell, "Casino Royale" is expected to be in theaters on Nov. 17.

Green's screen credits also include roles in Jean-Paul Salome's French-language film, "Arsene Lupin," and Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven," with Orlando Bloom and Liam Neeson.

Eva Green = YAWN.

There are at least 10 French actresses that I can think of who are prettier and sexier than Eva Green.

I think she is just gorgeous -I actually can't think of those 10. Her main problem (as with many French actresses including my all time favourite beauty Isabelle Adjani -dunno why) she just doesn't photograph well.

^Yes, I see that as well.

Eva does exude sensuality though on screen - so this doesn't surprise me.

she's so beautiful and talented. and so is daniel. but no one is going to see this movie 'cos no one knows who either of them is.

I thought they wanted a british actress with a real british accent???

isabelle doesnt photograph well?! she's gorgeous, on polaroid or on film.

i really dont see eva green in this role, i'd rather see ludivine sagnier, Marion Cotillard, Emma de Caunes or Virginie Ledoyen.

she does have a certain appeal to her! she isnt really spectacular in any way but theres something about her that makes her interesting!

she makes a perfect sexy villainess with a fghench aghzent!!!!cant wait!!!!!!!

I think she's a lot more interesting than recent Bond girls such as Terri Hatcher and Denise Richards. Eva is so wild and crazy.

Well actually, Eva is half British and has a perfect cut-glass accent.

she can do better than a Bond Movie...waaaaaaaay better

She can definately do better than a Bond movie, she'll be the only thing worth seeing in it. She's definately got an edge.

I'm pretty sure she is half French and swedish(?)- her mom's an actress and her dad is a dentist/doctor.

She lives in the UK though.

I agree that she is too good for a Bond movie but she has to do something to raise her profile so she can get better parts- ie she was the 1st choice for the Constant Gardner but was not cast b/c she was an unknown. I have doubts if the movie will do well though- everyone cast is an unknown actors.

She's a brillant actress. I know she will do well!

^Hmm...I remember reading an interview with her where she said she was brought up in Britain (went to a v. prestigious prep school I think)..... perhaps she isn't actually half British. Ah well, I've heard her speak English and her accent is impeccable.

Nonetheless, she's a brilliant actress! She would have been great in Constant Gardener (though Rachel Weisz did a good job too......)

Barbara Broccoli

I have met her and she is a very nice woman with great judgement, so I suspect this will be a very good choice.
