Skyfall is the upcoming twenty-third spy film in the James Bond series, produced by Eon Productions for MGM, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Directed by Sam Mendes, it features Daniel Craig's third performance as James Bond and Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's villain. Skyfall is due to be released in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2012, which includes IMAX venues. The film's release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Bond film series, which began with Dr. No in 1962.

Plot
After an operation in Istanbul ends in disaster, James Bond is missing and presumed to be dead, the identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked onto the internet, and M becomes the subject of a government review over her handling of the situation. When the agency itself is attacked, Bond's sudden reappearance gives M the pretext she needs to seek out a dangerous villain claiming a personal connection to both of them — but as he follows a trail from London to the South China Sea, Bond soon finds his loyalty to M challenged over secrets from her past

Cast

The main cast of Skyfall was officially announced at a press conference held at the Corinthia Hotel in London on 3 November 2011, fifty years to the day that Sean Connery was announced to play James Bond in the film Dr. No.

Daniel Craig as James Bond, agent 007. Director Sam Mendes described Bond as experiencing "[a] combination of lassitude, boredom, depression [and] difficulty with what he's chosen to do for a living."

Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's main antagonist. Bardem described Silva as "more than a villain", while Craig stated that Bond has a "very important relationship" to Silva.

Judi Dench as M, the head of MI6 and Bond's commanding officer. Skyfall will be Dench's seventh consecutive film in the role.

Ralph Fiennes as Mallory, a government agent with the authority to regulate MI6. Fiennes stated that he could not say anything specific about the role other than that it was "[a] really interesting part which is really quite fun".

Albert Finney as Kincade

Naomie Harris as Eve. Early speculation suggested that Harris would play Miss Moneypenny, though the character's first name was revealed as "Eve" with no surname disclosed, and she was specifically described as "a field agent". Despite ongoing speculation from tabloids that Eve would be revealed as Moneypenny, Harris herself dismissed claims that she would be playing the character, stating that "Eve is not remotely office-bound". According to Harris, Eve "[believes] she is Bond's equal, but she is really his junior".

Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, the MI6 Chief of Staff.

Bérénice Marlohe as Séverine. Marlohe described her character as being "glamorous and enigmatic", and that she drew inspiration from GoldenEye villain Xenia Onatopp (played by Famke Janssen) in playing Sévérine.

Helen McCrory as Clair Dowar, a British politician. McCrory joined the cast after Sam Mendes contacted her personally and offered her the part.

Ola Rapace as Patrice, a French mercenary who "is a man of few words" and "loves violence".

Ben Whishaw as Q. The character returns to the franchise after being absent in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Jens Hultén will also appear in the film, reportedly playing an accomplice of Javier Bardem's character. Ben Loyd Holmes confirmed on Twitter that he had a role in the film. Greek model Tonia Sotiropoulou, who unsuccessfully auditioned for the role of Sévérine, revealed that she had been cast in a secondary role in the film.

CANT WAIT! Am always eager to know who the villainess is

I just want to see this so much! I am such a Bond fan having read four books and watched all 22 movies! I cant wait!

gosh, please bring back the old James Bond plots in the 80s/90s. It's getting so complicated these days. I used to love this film so much before Daniel Craig. The Bond girl is disappointing as well, not a typical Bond girl at all.

The only problem in this movie will be the villain for me. If you think about the villains in James Bond face an anti climax from the first movies to the current. We started with villains like Dr. Julius No, Auric Goldfinger, Francisco Scaramanga and of course Ernst Stavro Blofeld and then during the late Moore era and so forth with Dalton, Brosnan and Craig we see metripathic and weak villains like Greene, General Medrano, the guy from Goldeneye, Carver the actor was known from me as Elisabeths father from Pirates of the Caribbean, Max Zorin and other limeys except Le Chiffre he was epic . I am afraid of Bardem as a villain in this movie and the plot people is a little replayed because if you see the vilain from License to Kill Sanchez has a lot similarities with Raul Silva since both are drug dealers. But..we will see :-D

It might be just me paying great attention to the villain in a movie and judging if it was good or not from him but James is pretty much same, even though I have to agree nowdays movies have complicated scenarios but the villain changes!

Theme of the opening credits, important element on all James Bond movies, a little better than the latest on Quantum.

I was blown away, this was quite possibly the best Bond film ever. Highly recommend it to everyone.

^That's good to know. I've heard the same thing from a couple of other people. Unfortunately it doesn't come out until next week here.

CANT WAIT, he is stunning, next to sean he is my fave, also adele did a FAB job with the theme song to

I saw the movie two nights ago. It's one of the best Bonds, for sure, but I was a little let down by Bardem's performance. Found it a little overdone.

Everything else was stellar though!! I loved the storyline.
