Eye Lash Growth

ok but i dont trust any websites.. aren't all the lash growth products now fda approved?

I like real feedback from real ppl. Websites can photoshop their pics and give fake testimonials.

You may have to wait a little while. Apparently, it just became publicly available January 26, 2009.

i am currently using ardell brow & lash grow accelerator, and even though i don't see any changes in the length of my lashes, there are definitely more of them and they look fuller.
i've been using it for about a month and a half now: i apply it before bedtime & in the morning as a primer under my mascara.
i heard it's not FDA-approved so it might be hard to get this product in the States,
but it's available in Canada.

we should all take before and after pics!!! I think i might try ardell.. but i 'd have to wait till i get my own credit card to buy the other expensive stuff... ma dad would kill me if i buy such nonsense stuff for experimentation.

One of my Mom's best friends has Glaucoma which is what the active ingredient in Latisse was orginally used for.

As a side effect her eyelashes grew so long that she had to CUT them. Seriously. I've seen her eyelashes.

It probably won't do that for everyone (or me), but I got on my dermatologist's waiting list for when Latisse comes in!

Latisse is the first and only FDA approved lash treatment.

Yes, I did know that. Glaucoma runs on my mother's side, so she also has to take the drops for her eyes.

I suppose, the amount in the Latisse is supposed to be a lower amount of bimoprostat (sp?). But wow, at your mom's friend.

I would like to try it and see if it works, just for a period of time.

Can a dermatologist just prescribe the Latisse like that, or is it for people with eye issues? Thanks.

From what I understand, Latisse is a slightly different product with the same/similar active ingredient. It has been aproved by the US FDA for eyelash growth, so yes, anyone should be able to get it with a prescription from a doctor. It's going to be expensive though. I think I read $150 for a month's worth? That's a lot of false eyelashes and mascara.

My Mom's friend now gets her eyelashes trimmed by her hairstylist after she made one eye a bit shorter than the other!

I tried castor oil and it didnt only not do anything but made my eyelashes worse. I layer on the mascara and I can never get it all off at night but I get most of it. The castor oil mixes with the mascara thats still on my lashes and after a few weeks of using it, my lashes are completely stuck together in large clumps. They've been fused together for like 3-4 days now and I end up just putting more out when I try to break it up with makeup remover or an eyelash comb.

I have an appt with my plastic surgeon in a month and I'm going to ask him for latisse, his office was listed on their site. cynge, what do you mean waitlist for when it comes in? Do you not get it at a pharmacy?

Oh, I'm just on my Dermatologist's wait list. When I called her office they did not have it yet. After they get it and it meets with her approval (she's picky), they are supposed to call me.

Your castor oil experience sounds unpleasant. It reminds me of when I had eyelash extensions. After they were removed with lots and lots of remover, I had like three little clumps of uneven lashes left. I loved having them but it took something like a month to fully recover!

Thanks for this info. The question I have is, once the eyelashes have grown, will you have to keep using this stuff or is it permanent? $150 for long lashes isn't such an investment if it's long-lasting or permanent. If it's not, then that's different.

If you find out, let us know! I can't imagine that you can use this stuff forever either!

I doubt it's permanent as eyelashes grow. I would think one would have to keep using it.

This thread reminds me that I have not heard from my Dermatologist. I wonder what's up with that? I'll give her office a call.

I got a rx for latisse, now I have to figure out where I can fill it... my regular pharmacy doesnt have it.

I just got my prescription for it too. They can order for you if they do not have it in stock. My Rite Aid had it but I'm in New York so I doubt I'm the first one to want it.

Yeah, just call your regular pharmacy and they can order it.

Also, please let us know if it really does work. I'm not waitlisted, and I want to see. My doc said she wants to see how well it does before she really starts writing prescriptions.

my mom uses revitalash and her eyelashes have grown a lot.... her lashes were not very short prior to using the product but now they're very long. it definitely works & i heard it's the best eye lash growth product as of now.. i've started using it but i don't use it everyday as i tend to forget, but my lashes have grown... before using revitalash my mom got eyelash extentions but they only last for a month... it cost her about $200.. revitalash is expensive ($150) but it works and i think it's better than getting extensions every month.

i heard many rave reviews about revitalash (my mom's friends)... my mom has also tried pink (i don't quite remember the name.. it was a bit cheaper $120). it works as well but i think revitalash is more efficient.

I forgot to mention in my post that I found that Costco had the cheapest price for Latisse, $113.99 here. I got it at Rite Aid because they price matched Costco so find out how much each pharmacy is charging. I think my Target had it for $130.

Did you get it at the Costco pharmacy, or are they selling it wholesale (w/o prescription)? If so, can you tell us. Thanks!

^ I dont think they're selling it without a prescription, I'm pretty sure that would be illegal. But any general doctor, dermatologist or plastic surgeon will prescribe it.

Just thought I'd mention that Latisse has just been launched in LA as an eyelash growing medicine. Anyone here know where I can get my hands on some in London?
