the first thing you want to take notice to is the size of your eyes - if you have large eyes, and minimizing their size is all right with you - line along both the upper and buttom rims of your eyes. If they're close-set or pretty small, like mine, it's wise to just line along the outter corners of your lids.

Thanks for that. I had a play last night and realised the key ingredient, brush, was missing. Thanks for the tips, am off to buy MAC 266 brush

 :flower:

Let me know how you like it - its definately a favorite around here!

I keep 3 of them in my kit. One for powder (to fill in brows with a powder and/or powder eye liner), one for a soft pencil (like the MAC eye Khol) so you can brush the tip of the 266 against the khol to get the controlled application with a brush, and one for any "oopses"

:P :buzz: Well I went and purchased the brush and its fabulous, expensive (i'm in Sth korea) but definitly worth it. I  bought an eye shadow to eperiment with. it's the new (well new here) range, Femme Noir veluxe. So tomorrow morning I will be experimenting with it. I was tempted to try one of the lighter shimmery/two color eyeshadows but read that they're not suitable for eyeliners. You guys agree?

Thanks again for the advice!!

since you've used liquid eyeliner before, can i just ask how to apply it in a straight like

sometimes when i go to this punk bar, i wear it along the rims on the bottom but it always goes dodgy so i have to get somebody else to do it for me.

are there ant tricks?

liquid eyeliners are a b*tch

it's so exhausting, and then it ruins the rest of my eyemakeup, and then i have to wash my face and do it all over again.

has anyone seen uma on the cover of entertainment?
her makeup is perfect.... i can NEVER achieve the look she has going... if anyone has seen that cover let me know how you get eyes to look like that, not over done on the bottom.... i always go too heavy and does anyone use liquid on the bottom?

sorry this is the only image i can find... sorta small...
do you think her artist lined the bottom of her eyes?

it's too small but maybe someone out there saw it an is an expert on eyes... i have mastered lining the upper lid but the bottom makes me feel like I am wh*ring it a bit.

I've just started using Lancome's Artliner and I really like it. I was a bit nervous about switching from pencil and I've found it really easy to use and very precise. B)

One trick I use for lining the bottom is to line them nice and thick first so that you get a good even line. Then dip a Q-tip into eye makeup remover, dab off the excess remover onto a tissue, and use the Q-tip to gently thin out the liner. With just a little practice, you can get a perfect, thin but dark line. At the end I use the other end of the Q-tip to put loose powder under the liner to absorb any left over remover.

Another way of using liquid eyeliner is to to use BOTH liquid and pencil. I line the inner rims with a pencil first (between the lashes) and make it a little bit thick. Then I go over it with a liquid liner. All you have to do is follow the line. For the top eye lid another way to have a striaght line with a liquid eyeliner is to pull your eyelid from the side, making it a bit elongated, and then run the liquid eyeliner along the lid with one single stroke. If it comes out to thin, then go over it again. One single stroke will make a more even line. If your hands get shaky, even out the line with a Q-tip dipped in eyeliner remover, but be careful not to smudge your line.

Thanks to everyone for the responses :flower:

I have one more question. My eyes water when I apply eyeliner to the insides of the bottom rim. Is there any way to stop this (I'm using the new chanel vert pencil)?

Or is it just some eyes do cry and some don't, and mine just do??

Sometimes though tis a great advantage when people assume you 'fragile' and treat you with the utmost care in case you cry harder
