Eyeliner

for anyone in the uk check out sleek's gel eyeliner pots. comparable to bobbi brown imo

im liking MAC Smolder so far. its very black...but its weird its like so black its nearly blue. i dont know if this happens to anyone else but the Maybelline Ultra Liner is the same way to me. its a Kohl which ive used to before but still different from Teddy kohl, a lot more dense in color and smudgeable but messier cuz there is so much pigment. not very budgeable which is good unless you mess up or put too much. so far so good, gotta play around it more and learn how to work this formula.

Thanks, especially for the L'oreal tip. That's exactly the type of liner I've been looking for.

Let me know how you get on with it! When I wear it to work I go for a very nude face and graphic thickly lined eyes with no smudge and people say I look like some girl in Babylon Five. I have no idea who it is, but it sounds like a compliment!

I just got smolder, cos I heard so much about it
Though I like the richness in color, its a bit messy, even when a put on a little, so I'm thinking about returning not sure yet.
Any suggestions??

^ gotta love your signature!

im not going to repurchase MAC Smolder because it still comes off blueish. if i put it over a brown like MAC Teddy it looks more like a true black...too much work. and when Smolder smudges... BLESS THAT MESS! and when it gets on my hands its a pain to remove. ive sharpened it too much already it wouldnt feel right for me to return. does anyone know their return policy?(yes ive checked online). for me locally, my sister told me that when she returned MAC stuff they dont even check it just tossed into a pile(not back on shelves od course, ew!)...im going to return the Studio Finish concealer because i got match with one that is only like a million shades too dark for me.

I'm into smudgy eyeliner, but MAC Eye Kohl is the wrong product if you prefer a more precise line. If you like using pencil liners, try MAC Powerpoint or Technakohl instead.

Not sure about MAC's return policy, but you're so lucky you can return used makeup in the first place. That's not an option in most of Europe, even for cash credit.

^ that is so true about returning stuff. I get really jealous when I read through MUA reviews and people instantly and cheerfully return stuff they don't like...can't do it in the UK as far as I'm aware.

With regards to MAC Smolder, it does have a blue twinge to it and can look a bit harsh on me even though I'm not really light-skinned...I won't be rebuying it either. I think there has to be a better black kohl out there than this

.

^ glad im not the only one with a blueish black MAC Smolder pencil! i almost thought i got a bad batch. because when i swatched it on my hand its not like that...very strange.

as for as the MAC eyekohls, Smolder and Teddy have very different textures. i can do clean line with Teddy, smudge it as well, wear in waterline with no worry and its glides on nicely. Smolder can do clean lines but easy to smudge in a bad way like it moves(one minute its okay next min its transferred to eyelid, lower lid etc never seems to want to stay put) its just a mess and it hard to clean up any wrong lines and it pulls on my eye a bit more. but if you want like runway madness mess on eyes then Smolder is great. smugdy Heroin chic okay! and like for Halloween or something crazy where you dont care if it looks runny(dressed as a ghoul! lol) so its not completely useless its just not as versatile as i hoped.

ive never returned used makeup to MAC but apparently a lot of people do it and its just gets put in a pile and probably thrown out because they dont put it back on shelves. it depends on the store though. some department stores where i live arent known for not caring what people return! if its presented with receipt, sticker on the box and within the amount of days allowable they will take it. i feel bad so i wont return Smolder because i have sharpened it a few times lol but im returning my MAC concealer for sure because thats just messed up how 'off' the color is! its even darker than my sister and she is dark compared to me!

Ooh, I just wanted to recommended Givenchy Magic Kajal fat eyeliner. It's probably the most perfect liner i've ever tried when you want a really thick, dark molten line that you can smudge. It's so waxy and soft it creates the look that I have always wanted that you see in magazines. Try it!

Does anyone have an opinion/review on Very Sexy Makeup Liquid Liner Pen from Victoria's Secret? I like using liner pens because I don't have the steadiest of hands. I may have to swatch it when I go to the store next.

I use Dior eyeliner I can't remember if it has a specific name or not but it works really well for me. It's easy to use, it just glides right on perfectly and lasts a really long time while other pencils I've tried have taken more time and you really had to rub them on and sometimes they'd be rubbed off an hour or so later. I think I'm going to stick with it, I'm not a big jumper when it comes to eyeliner anyway and this one hasn't failed me yet lol

I suck at applying eyeliner! Whenever I try to do a clean line, my hand shakes & it looks like a crazy lady did it for me. So I usually just end up doing a whatever kind of line & then smudging/blending it. I really wish I had a steadier hand so I could do simple lines or winged eyeliner :(

Lancome's Kohl liner in the color "India Ink" is amazing, especially on the waterline.

i absolutely love my anna sui waterproof eyeliner pencil! it glides on smoothly and stays put the whole day/night without touching up. it doesn't budge or smudge (which is perfect for me since i have deep set asian eyes) but gives you enough time to blend (approx 30 seconds) before drying. and i have blocked tear ducts where my eyes are constantly watering, so it's great because it doesn't smear when i rub my eyes!

i don't have steady hand either, so i started using MAC's 267 brush. it's a godsend if you want to apply liquid liner quickly. i use mac's liquid liner in boot black and simply paint the 267 brush. it's a fine, slightly angled brush and gives you a perfect line every time and never skips. you can do this with any liquid liner really, the only tool you need is the brush. :flower:

I am loving Urban Decay 24/7, especially in lucky. It stays all day and glides easily. Anyone else loving this?

Which brush is 267? I can't seem to find it on their website.

I really like GOSH velvet touch liners for use on my waterline. They glide on & last all day w/no touch ups. Get to your nearest Superdrug! :flower:
