Fair / Pale Skin

honestly, I'm sixteen and i do not get the whole tanned/fried chicken skin thing, anyone can be tan, put your self in a tanning bed and there you go, you're foul, but not every one can be pale and porcelain, you have to be BORN with it, just like cate or nicole, honestly i'd die if i was tanned and gross, its not pretty at all, just not at all.

i really really don't get why girls thing it is, i suppose the link it with california and lots of friends and boyfriends and being gorgeous, what a joke.

you know youre pale when...

you're the only person who absorbs the colors around you when you take pictures. i wore lavendar eyeshadow(outside, to the beach) today and i ended up looking a bit lavendar in some of my photos! its like i have my own special lighting!

^that's funny! :)

I've come to embrace my pale skin. I've had many people come up to me and be like 'Oh you're so pale! I know of some great self tanner products you can try out' and once on my birthday I had someone try and buy me a tanning package at a tanning salon. I will never go in a tanning bed!!!!

I find it annoying, but I hardly care anymore. On the other hand I do have people that tell me it's striking how I have dark eyes and pale skin. So who knows....everyone should embrace the color they are.

I do have problems with foundations. All of them are too pink on me! I'm a drug-store type of shopper, so does anyone have any cheap recommendations of foundations w/out pink undertones?

^There's a thread somewhere for nothing but product advice for fair/pale skin. You can probably get some decent suggestions from what's already been posted, even.

^Yes, it's the "Pale/Fair-skinned...Favorite Products" thread, probably on the first page of the Paint that Face forum.

they are so crazy for getting you that tanning package...not to be rude but that would be a gift i would be soooo tempted to straight up refuse accepting like fo reals? you really went there?! although i probably would just accept graciously at first... but seriously there are a lot of people out there who simply dont understand the melanin challenged. they just think the world of the tan look/tanning that they cant understand why some people with their genetic makeup should avoid it. (dont avoid the sun just attempting to tan)

i agree everyone should embrace their 'natural skin tone' if you dont tan easily great...if you do then great! ;)

i have some suggestions in that thread :flower:

Love this thread! I have people comment on how white I am all the time and they constantly tell me to get a tan! It's really annoying and frustrating! Nice to know I am not alone because I love my pale skin.

I do have a question about sunscreen/blocks for you guys: I live in southern California (lotsa sun!!) and I do lot of stuff outdoors (unfortunately, during the middle of the day and there is no way around it) and I have been using the Neutrogena Dry touch sunscreen SPF 30 with helioplex and have still noticed that I am getting a but of a farmers tan!! This worries me because obviously there is some sun UV getting through. So, do you guys have an affordable/non-comedogenic (I break out really easily)/not too heavy-feeling/non-sticky sunscreens that you would recommend? Basically the dream sunscreen haha.

Thanks!! :)

^ Agree! I am sooo white! and i dont mind it and i dont care for all that tanning sh?tz..
Thanks for that "Pale/Fair-skinned...Favorite Products" thread suggestion!!

When i was growing up people used to ask me if i was anemic because i was so pale. I would have to tell them again and again that i don't like sunbathing because i would just go red then white again. And what is so wrong in being pale? I don't mind it, it's the way that i am.

but do you guys like, never sunbath at all?
cause you know 15 min/day is good for your health
something with vitamin D and stuff..
"[...] a study published today underscores the importance of getting adequate amounts of sunlight for its vitamin D-boosting benefits. You don't have to sunbathe though, you can just go for a 15min walk outside.

i definitely dont shun the sun, i stay fair year around and burn easily so ive learned to catch rays but in moderation. gotta love the vitamin D :D

i did a presentation about sunscreens, vitamin d etc and im surprised by the little misconceptions people seem to have in regards to sun protection. beauty companies go to extremes to sell products. i hear in people's voices when they talk about what is supposedly right and wrong, then they go to extremes and villanize the sun. its just a bad cycle of misinformation as a result of companies preying on people.

Oooh that sounds so interesting Kissable! I always wear suncream but theres so much info flying around it all gets a bit aaaagggghh.

Same! I have been told by a dermatologist (my aunt! still counts though...!)to never sit out in the sun between 10 and 4 without covering myself head to toe in at least factor 35. I just don't have enough melanin in my skin for it to protect itself!!
