Fantastic Man Fall/Winter 2016 : Demna Gvasalia by Inez & Vinoodh

uh if I have to see that fashion victim sweatshirt again......

He looks kind of hot to me.

The jawline, the scruff, the fact that it’s totally unrecognizable as him… This could be just some random hot guy cruising at the baths— I mean having a smoke on the street…

Terrible cover for a magazine though. I get it Demna; Branding is very important to you and you so need to be down with the grift and you want everyone to know that you chop wood in your mountain cabin and hunt your dinner, but your everyday macho Georgian chav drag is getting very tiresome.

^ haha

can you imagine that scruffy semi visible face framed with the window of a car and you're like 'ok, he's kind of hot'... then gets out of the car and dude's in that vetements fashion boy thing, padded shoulders and all :lol:... but can I burn that bridge with you on it..

The Juergen Teller cover of him for Arena Homme+ was much better

Just saying.....

nooooo, fantastic man, i was expecting more from you! as in: not another publication bowing to the FASHION REVOLUTION!

That’s been my experience more than I’d like, sadly.

I’m down with the chav-drag— if he were wearing a real Champion hoody and a real New Era baseball cap. As soon as I see the fashion-victim Vetements sweats and tees, I’m done. It’s such a blatant marketing ploy on his part to do the chav-drag— just with his brand’s clothes. Such a turn off.

But also can’t help but also admire his aggressive, take-no-prisoner marketing savvy. Maybe it’s because I do think he’s talented with his Balenciaga work that all this macho drag is tolerable rather than come off as annoying. I’m not as much bothered by his words as many are since he’s clearly an intelligent guy, so the transparency of his branding doesn’t bother me… as much. (Russians and Georgians— I know many Georgians don’t like to be mistaken as Russians because of bad blood, but they’ll forgive me since I’d like to remind those that may not be so familiar with natives of those countries that in general, they’re a very frank, blunt people. Which, in these sensitive times, came come off as unPC, and easily dismissed as racism.)

Is it any surprise that with so many gays in high fashion needing to glam up whoever they’re in the spotlight, there’s bound to be one that’s smart enough to do the opposite to stand out? And frankly, I’m drawn to this image of him on a cover of a magazine rather than a twink like Balmain barbie Olivier naked— and photoshopped to death (and likely wearing a ton of makeup, waxed, and plucked). Both make terrible covers, but at least Demna is an attractive man to me.

Vile, both the image and the personality! And I'm slowly getting fed up with I&V, who appears to be making it up as they go along.

What's with macho attitude? there're lots of gay men who dress like that... He looks hot and I like this cover... I don't read much of interviews anyway, so I never got a chance to get annoyed with him... One thing what I like about him and Balenciaga is that they definitely stand out of the general over-the-top-glamourized crowd. Do I think his designs are outstanding? NO, but it works at the moment.

IKR. It's like: TFS hating on Demna? Shocking! He's clearly on this forum's blacklist.

I like the portrait quite a lot, I&V are the best! However I'm not excited to read yet another profile on him, I feel like I know him better than he does.

They made him look really hot, which he's really not.

Where can I read the interview where some of you have found him so awful ?

^ nowhere.. there's no 'the' interview, or a specific line that catapulted him to awfulness lol.. I think it's a general impression, next to pretentious or intellectually challenged.

Personally, it's too much fashion boy for me to take really (and god knows being in this place my tolerance for fashion bs is enormous).. he kind of tries to think about the meaning of clothes, meaning of life, meaning of fashion, all in one shot (), but since his nose is too glued to the microscopic world of fashion, he loses perspective, then tries to get it, then loses it again. He comes across like a fool in interviews, but not uncommon, it's just that the hype machine of the platforms he's able to voice thoughts on makes it louder.. therefore more likely to irritate.

There's this one interview that people jumped on for some reason.. and this other one where right near the end he does just what I mentioned.. lol.

And Phuel, yes I agree, it's much much better than naked Tisci or naked Marc or naked Balmain guy. But tbh, I'd rather see a celebrity than a designer on a cover. The moment they start with part-time modeling, their typically questionable collections only get worse...
