Who owns who?

I know many of these designers aren't private companies anymore. I want to know what companies own which designers companies. If they are owned by other big houses or investment firms, etc.

Enlighten me please. :flower:

LVMH owns Dior, Galliano, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and that's all i know...

i think that Moschino owns Narciso Rodriguez

and Gucci Group owns Gucci, YSL Rive gauche ( i think), Stella Mccartney, and Alexander Mcqueen

Gucci Group
Gucci
Yves Saint Laurent
Sergio Rossi
Alexander McQueen
Stella McCartney
Boucheron
Bedat & Co.

LVMH owns everything

Dior

Pucci
Thomas Pink
Louis Vuitton
Marc Jacobs
Celine
Donna Karan
Berluti
Kenzo
Loewe
Givenchy
StefanoBi

Well, the real reason why Prada sold Fendi is cause it was losing money and Prada themselves were severly in debt, so it could be Bertellis craziness that got them in that pickle.

thanks Lena & Kit for all these precisions

All those big conglomerates make me sad :(

Family business:

CHANEL: owns ERES & small companies for their couture (embroidery Lessage, ....)

HERMES (Dumas-Hermès family): is a big shareholder of camera maker LEICA and has a partnership with JeanPaul Gauthier.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO (Ferragamo family): owns Emanuel Ungaro

PUIG Group (Puig family): owns Nina ricci & Paco rabanne

Fendi seems to be loosing money big time, i wonder why they've recentrly extented karl's 'reign' at the House of Fendi... no less than for the next ten years.. how much money do they need to loose in order to get the message? it is just not working

excellent thread, thanks everyone for adding in,
esp botoxmolecula for the 'baby lux groups' details,
i keep mixing those 'lesser' players

what about Onward? are they now on the game with buying Joseph?
what about diesel, they wont stop at Maison Martin Margiela..

what about american 'lux' groups? do they exist?

Karma to everyone who posted here! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. :flower:

Death to conglomerates!!

Sorry I had to say it

Anyway, there was also the major American conglomerate Pegasus which owned shares in Miguel Adrover,Daryl K. and if I'm not mistaken also As Four(??).

Fortunate for us, Dior owns LVMH, or about 42. 5 % of it. That is the reason that Dior has been profitable. Christian Dior is the holding company which owns Dior Couture and has significant voting power in LVMH, which explains the musical chairs designers play in those companies (i.e the departure of Galliano from Givenchy to the head of the house.

Moreover, it is Dior which is able to pay for the extravanges at Christian Dior and even at John Galliano's brand.

Forbes Magazine included Christian Dior as number 365 in its annual list of 2 000 largest companies in the world. Gucci Group is nowhere to be found, although it's Holding company PPR is. Hermes is on the list, and no other luxury brands are to be found, probably because they are not so large or publicly traded.
