Fashion "non-model" Icons

One of softgrey's responses to a post I made reminded me of this style icon of mine. Her name is Rosamund and she's a very eccentric, creepy little girl. She originates from between the pages of the Nate the Great series and has always fascinated me. As seen in this cover illustration, Rosamund has long, straight black hair that nearly covers her heavily rimmed, deep black eyes. She always wears a lot of black or dark colours and is obsessed with her three cats. So, yes, that's Rosamund... :ninja:

my non-model fashion icons:

-Vanessa Paradis ( though sometimes she just can't get it right; This years Oscar's for example, holymotherofgod how ugly dress!!she's also a bit too skinny these days I think...but a great style icon! she's actually done some modelling, but I don't think she can be called a "model", really)

-Marianne Faithfull (what a woman!she was so stylish and pretty in the sixties, and still is! I wish I could be like her when I age)

-Kirsten Dunst (she's sweet and fresh, and the only "teen" in the business who gets it right.)

-french women.I don't know why, but everytime I look through Vogue Paris, they all look so sophisticated and elegant.they dress so simply,I love it. of course I don't mean that all the women in France are absolutely stylish, but they're bit above normal, most of them.

-Sofia Coppola (do I need to say more???)

I'd love to say Marilyn Monroe, but though I love her, I'm just so tired of this 50's style, everyone's wearing it.

I'm in awe and inspired by a diverse range of people who had/have great style. Most of them are comfortable in their own skin and not afraid to express their individuality.

My prenennial favourites include:
George Sand (19th Century French Romantic who wore pants and smoked cigars bc she felt like it)
Audrey Hepburn
Catherine Deneuve
Francois Hardy
Anita Pallenberg
Nico
Penelope Tree
Kate Moss
The Ramones
The Slits
Bjork
Feist
Sahara Hotnights (Swedish all-girl band)
The Like (LA all-girl band who makes the most of thriftstore finds)
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (in particular Nick)
The Cooper Temple Clause
Liam Gallagher
Chrissie Hynde
Tony Trujilo (Pro-skater who looks like a Ramone and skates to Motley Crue)
Charlotte Gainsbourg
Karen O
Frida Kahlo (not so much her actual style but her spirit)
and last but not least, my mom! She's effortlessly stylish and I always raid her closet.

Charlotte Gainsbourg & Carolyn Bessette Kennedy
simplicity, style, modernity

I really learn a lot just looking at their pictures.

gwyneth paltrow

she is so stylish and beautiful:heart:
