Favorite Fashion / Designer Quotes

i think i've already mentioned it but my favourite now and forever will always be the quote from zowie and brian from boudicca....a title they assumed for a collection in 2001...and a quote i used on my signature for some time.

it pays my way but corrodes my soul a sentiment i feel speaks volumes.

and

some other quotes i adore from vivienne westwood-
It is not possible for a man to be elegant without a touch of femininity

“I think it is terribly important to have opinions, and to think. We live in a world of action without thought.”

there's another i loved too but cannot quote it properly speaking on the matter of transgression and the only way to utilise it is with ideas.

This may have already been said but my favourite is, "In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different," - Coco Chanel. It's good to have as a life motto

When I read what Helena wrote in Geraldines thread about the VP Team and their dress code this quote by the irreplaceable Samurai Suzy came to my mind - which seems to fit better in here:

"The editors of glossy magazines have to live the fashion dream to the bitter end.
They have to look like their magazines. But I'm writing for a daily newspaper and don't have to send messages. I'm like most women: We need practical things and want at the same time a little craziness. And because we don't lead a crazy life we buy crazy handbags which we cling to."

^karl contradicts himself sometimes, he said nicole was a great actress, beautiful , his favorite and then he says things like "she needs a boob job"

I don't think that's a contradiction. Of course Nicole is a great actress and a stunning woman, but of course she has almost no breasts!

When I was a media reporter, there were many high-profile editors, and God knows they had big egos, but you could still get them on the phone ... Remnick, Carter, Fuller, even Martha Stewart. But Wintour? She just never talked to peons like us ... It was beneath her. And all the while I'm thinking, "Who is this skank?" She plays up this aristocratic, Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake" routine, but, excuse me, can I get some proof that she holds a title of nobility that goes back to the 13th century? No. All she does is edit a magazine. That's it. So what's with the royalty routine? . . . I mean, for Christ's sake, the woman slept with Bob Marley, one of the most soulful people ever to walk the face of the earth. If that didn't spiritualize her, nothing would ... Wintour will be escorted by eunuchs to a place in hell run entirely by large rats

I just read this on fashinfags. I love it. Definitely one of my favorite quotes now.

^i adore that. and i am happy that there are those who are actually interested in fashion even have these feelings about her. it's the one unsavoury aspect of this industry that detest with passion....that elitism.

^omg  had no idea whatsoever. yeah,i agree...too bad it didn't come from someone was chemically balanced.

anyone, anyone, anyone can be wildly attractive.
fitness, grooming and an open heart can do more than any designer dress.
rick owens from "fashion now" book

I want to see a conversation between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Karl Lagerfeld.

"Being sexy seems to be the greatest desire among women. They are wearing the most tantalizing outfits, they are young and beautiful - and always alone. Because they don't understand that it's damn unsexy when you dress for sex. The sexier you dress, the less sexy you become and, what is even worse, the less sex you're going to have."

-Miuccia Prada

^ That sounds more like an excuse for some inexcusable stuff she manages to design as 'clothing'. Even though I am a huge fan, no other designer managed to get away with designing so much ugliness season after season. Not everything and not recently, but certainly some a few seasons back.

Look,Feel,Think,Love,Dream --- Alber Elbaz(it's said this quote is from a foreword of a Guy Boudin photography album.....)

I love the one in my sig I feel that it really works well for me as well I love to dress up
