Who is your favourite black female singer? the Divas.

In terms of both beauty AND talent. and compare them each at their prime. For example, Ella Fitzgerald is dead, but in her prime how would she compare to the rest. Aretha is old and Whitney is really hurting. but in their respective primes...

well, as sad a state as miss whitney is in right now, i think that if we look at her in her prime, she blows the others out of the water in terms of talent AND looks.

imo, Whitney is the only one who has model-worthy looks. in fact, she started her career as a model before quitting to pursue her singing career. she's always had a fantastic body and great skin and a perfect smile.

in terms of raw talent, while Beyonce and Alicia are certainly both talented -- they're both in their primes right now and there's not a chance in Hell either of them could touch "I Will Always Love You" or "All The Man I Need" or any of Whitney's other big hits with their vocal abilities.

Aretha, Ella, Billie, talented beyond words. but they're legends and i wouldn't want to compare them to anyone else. (though i still think whitney at her best could do anything they could do). Tina was never as much of a vocalist as she was a rockstar. i love her and her energy.

SOOOOOOOOOOO,

my vote is for Whitney.

It has, always been, and always will be about Mariah Carey. She has a ridiculous vocal range, has stage presence, and writes her own songs.

To rank the others:
Beyonce
Whitney Houston
Alicia Keys
Aretha
Tina Turner

Nina Simone.

I love her too

Whitney Houston in her early days. Who can forget some of her classic songs like
"Where do broken hearts go" and "Didn' t we almost have it all" ^_^

Aretha Franklin is in a league of her own

yeah, i'm embarassed that i forgot Nina. she's definitely one of my favourites!

I was just about to post about Nina! Her version of Feelin Good is one of the sexiest ever songs imo :D

I love all of the greats-past and present. Too many to list. However, I’ll say India.Arie. I love her inner beauty and spirit. She’s a very gifted singer/songwriter and musician.

I'm not the average girl from your video
and I ain't built like a supermodel
But, I Learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen

aaaaah. yes, dionne!! really one of the most amazingly talented singers. her voice knew no bounds.

aaaaaaand, she's whitney's cousin. and aretha is whitney's godmother. haha. they've all duetted with each other numerous times.

hahaa. i read your post "Gloria Gaynor", then saw your Kylie avatar and your location "At the Disco". its all too perfect!

i love it all! you're awesome Diorling. :flower:

where's patti Labelle? I'm still not sure who I want to vote for.

patti is great! lawd knows that woman can blow! and she STILL sounds great even at ... what? 62 years old?? amazing.

cant choose between ms holiday and ms fitzgerald:unsure:

even though whitney has a major voice. but the first two or just two legendary ladies

I can't vote when two of my all time favorite singers are on the list!
