Okay just for fun the names that come to my mind, check it:lol::heart:...
Tina!

Gladys Knight(hello she's awesome don't think she was mentioned she deserves it. She is so up there with all the great, greats. And she still sounds great)!

Aretha(gotta Respect her...anyone watch the finale of Divas Live?! This woman without hardly trying can drown out all type of singing girls just ask Mariah,Celine,etc...jokes)!

Billie Holiday(the musician type of singer, she inspired so many people...very unique).

Ella Fitzgerald('The first lady of song',what a career...she recorded for like 9 decades)!

Diana Ross(The Diva and she was in the Supremes:blush:)

Etta James(such power...see where Janis got some of her act from).

Whitney(in her prime she was something else).

***Basically all the above women are extra special and I can't really pick maybe later...jokes!
*Honorable mentions:Martha Reeves(Vandellas lead singer),Natalie Cole,Anita Baker,Sade & Patti.

OMG,adding this one to my extra special list...Miss Sarah Vaughan,I :heart:her. Her voice is so sharp, melodic & beautiful I bet this jazz legend could be an Opera star if she wanted. She is my 9th and final pick, she like Gladys I don't think was mentioned! Sarah takes me to heaven(so to speak).

my vote is Nina Simone.
she epitomizes struggle, strength, beauty, talent and grace.

 her & her music!!!

I really love Ella Fitzgerald, so my vote goes to her
That reminds me above I meant to say 6 decades(not 9,I just flipped the numbers...hey these voices had me somewhere else, jokes)! I also must say thats still impressive especially considering most of her contemporaries(or even other artists)didn't live a long & productive life like she did. She never lost it,case in point when I was a kid I saw one of her last major tv performances. It was a special for the late Sammy Davis in 1990 and she rocked! I was young but I knew this woman was special...just how special I would find out some years later. However, its something that I'll never forget, the song btw was 'Too Close for Comfort'! Oh,what I wouldn't do to go back to 1990 to see that again:blush:.

^ Oh wow, how beautiful was that  Thank you for posting it!

I can't get this out of my mind:blush:,so naturally I had to post it here! I guess thats why she ranked & voted #1 for all females singers a few years back on VH1. I only picked one video last time, but she deserves at least 2 like the others.

And...to even out my list,9 is so crude(okay and yeah too many great women to choose from),jokes! This woman is that goood,I've been listening to her more & more each day so here's #10...to round out my top 10:heart:! Her birth name is Yvette but she changed it to the more appropriate Chaka which is African for fire. Some of her work in the 70s,80s & 90s...

Shame Nina Simone is not there!
So I voted for Tina Turner! ^_^

This list is not long enough! I like so many. There are too many to name.

"Favourite Black Female Singer" how come that Mariah Carey is on the list ?

kids, kids, aretha's the original!!
She along with Chaka won awards at this year's Grammys:heart:! I have to say after some serious thought, even though I picked 10 she may just be my favorite black, white, green, whatever!
Aretha at age 53 at Divas Live taking them all to school and leaving the audience spellbound. Forget the peskiness, booty shaking, cute gowns, wannabe models, etc I won't name names...stand back because Aretha gets the job done.
