Favourite Painters

Frida Kahlo
Salvadore Dali
Georgia O' Keeffe
Tamara de Lempicka
Jackson Pollock

I think my favorite favorite would be Lempicka. Her use of line and shadow just amazes me.

Velazquez's Las Meninas.
I love that painting, as an interesting (or perhaps just irrelevant :p) aside, my mum made a couple of Menina sculptures when we lived in Spain, which were very lovely. She's moving right now so I'm not sure if they're packed, but if they aren't I'll try to take and post some pics of them when I go home for Christmas :flower:

I really coudl never choose one, but I like

Frida Kahlo
Andy Warhol
Mark Rothko
Gustave Klimnt
Dali

I tend to liek thinsg with a spiritual influence

I like Ernst too, he is in my avatar, on the left.
I just did a 25 page paper on Ernst. Interesting fellow.

I'm not really into traditional artists. I find them to be... out of touch with my life. I don't use oils, don't like paintings of people, dont like landscapes at all. But I don't fund myself into an abstractionalist persuasion either. I like works that give me a jolt.

Ghada Amer - kind of mainstream, but cool nevertheless.

Pat Steir (only her older style, her new stuff doesn't appeal to me. She's very well-regarded in the art world right now.)

good choice! there is an exhibition on tamara de lempicka in Vienna/Austria, which I really want to see

my ultimate favourite is Rene Magritte!! When I see his paintings, I see how my brain works..

Escher made very interesting paintings, unfortunately I don;t have any to show you. I'll see if I can google some.

I'm sure everybody has seen them once in their lives, they are famous.

He was more a sort of magician instead of a painter, the things he does to a simple paper.. unbelievable.
